Yulara

Pros: Staff friendlines
Sails in the Desert is the upmarket accommodation facility in the Yulara complex. It, together with other associated facilities and town centre provided many options for shopping and dining.

We both got food poisoning, on separate nights, from different foods. The room cleaner didn't come until 6pm one day, which while I respect it is 'later' was just beyond ridiculous because we were back and sitting before dinner, and so it was just too awkward and told him to just give us some more toilet paper. And they didn't even come at all another day even though we took the do not disturb off by 6am. The bed was ridiculously uncomfortable, we both left with back pains, with extremely starchy loud doona that is only protected by a loose sheet. And while I expect that at cheap places, at 400+ per night, is ridiculous. When I tried to pay my bill it was a bit of a hassle because he was trying to hurry me out to serve next person in life - which is funny because I'm trying to give you money but whatever. And at 400+ per night, I'm wondering what exactly I paid for. Room cleaning was non existent to us apparently, breakfast isn't included (which I was under the impression it was), bad bed, the room smelt quite badly of new paint... so where's the money go?

Well presented hotel in a remote area

Pros: Hotel facilities are excellent
Cons: Prices of meals.
Location: Plenty of activies in a truly stunning area in Australia
Hotel is very good and has up to date facilities. Food is expensive even for a remote area and because they have a captive audience seem to take advantage of this.

Well located hotel within the resort

We had a great stay at Sails. It is walking distance to all local amenities and is well maintained. The staff at Sails made our trip. Always friendly and engaging with nothing too much trouble. Great food - hard to fault really.

Best hotel in town

Pros: Room, bedding, tv, breakfast buffet
Cons: The shower and evening buffet
Location: Located a short drive from the main attractions of Uluru and Kara-Tjuta. Shops and restaurants are a short walk from the resort.
On arrival it was pleasing to be met by staff who took your luggage directly from your car to your room as you checked-in. This rather made up for the fact that the car parking area was some distance from your room. The room we had was on the third floor so required some stair climbing or a longer walk to use a lift, it was good and roomy with two comfortable double bed. Facilities were excellent especially the large tv and very cold refrigerator. On arrival on a hot day the air conditioning struggled to cool the room until the middle of the night but kept the room cool for the rest of our 4 day visit. The shower was well below luxury standard but can be somewhat forgiven as water in the desert is a scarce commodity. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good range of expected dishes, however the evening buffet disappointed with range and only average quality. But overall our stay was excellent due to outstanding staff and service we received.

Good service, overpriced ordinary meals

Hotel staff were friendly and professional. Room was spacious and comfortable. This resort is getting on in age but it still holds up in appearance. Food was its biggest downfall. Buffet breakfast is overpriced at $42 per head but quality and selection was quite good. The buffet dinner was a different story - way way overpriced at $72 per head. Food on offer was of poor quality and the cooked meats to order were dreadfully over done. Food in this hotel is poor value for money as were many of the ither food outlets. Foodies will be disappointed with the overall standard and selection of food throughout the resort. The natural beauty of this area is a must see and is well worth the visit.
