Southern Anchorage Retreat is in a stunning location, very close to the 12 Apostles. Drew was very welcoming and gave us great tips on where to go/eat/see. The retreat itself is very relaxing, looking out over all the hills. If you’re lucky enough you will see the wallaby and her baby, kangaroos and cows in the distance. Could not recommend highly enough and I’m looking forward to my next stay there!

Thanks for the great review Laura. Always fantastic to get appreciative guests who love our views, animals and location as much as we do. Will welcome you back anytime- just get in touch. Our animals are a real pleasure to share- especially Willamena- our red necked wallaby mum- who lives on the property and often loves to share her beautiful joeys with us. All the best, Drew

Private and clean, wood fire and spa were great. Waking up to the view each morning was amazing.

Nice and quiet, relaxing in the countryside. Great view across the valley and landscape. Everything you need to look after your own meals, just bring the food.

Glad you enjoyed the views and your Wreck Beach wander. It's a funny one- people that read the information we send out with each booking really get lots out of their stay, know where and when to eat and tend to give us 5/5, whereas guests who ignore the info, are the ones that say we're in the middle of nowhere and people need to plan their trips. Totally agree with many of our guests- the Twelve Apostles are in a remote part of Australia, 3 hours form Melb via the inland route and its important to plan your trip. Many who read the info we provide love our views and bush/coastal setting and really enjoy the sounds of nature.

Always difficult to respond to anonymous reviews who haven't left feedback. Gives us no information and feedback so pretty useless towards helping a business improve and giving insights.

Fantastic welcome from Drew when we arrived. Talked us through the area and things we could do while we were there. Showed us the facilities in the shared kitchen and into our room. The electric blankets were a great touch, especially since it was an unusually cold & wet September weekend. Basic continental breakfast consisted of bread for toast, cereal, muesli & yoghurt. If we had more time in the morning, we probably would have requested the breakfast pack including eggs & bacon.

Thanks Peter- the views and nature at the moment are amazing! Willamena- our local wallaby mum- has been visiting with her joey and the mob of kangaroos have been delighting the guests when they show. We've really tidied the gardens and working hard on the rooms- and the feedback is positive. love the many return guests who are getting back in touch and we're able to offer great deals to our regulars! A magic place to visit!!

Beautiful location and views, and the spa is amazing. The rooms could do with an upgrade, or at least new linen. Perhaps some food and drinks available for purchase at reception would be a good idea as it is a fair distance from any shops or restaurants.

It is a beautiful locations and we continue to work hard to improve the cottages and grounds. With the linen we have only just purchased new towels, etc, so I'm assuming its not those you refer to. With the bed linen we don't like the harsh white bedding of lots of motels- we try to match our linen to the cottages- which are rustic- so I'm assuming this doesn't fit your tastes, and that's ok, because we all have different tastes. Maria buys new pillows and bedding regularly so I can guarantee you would have slept in very recently purchased and tidy linen. With the distance to the shops you are right- but if you read the information I send with every booking this is well explained, and some people rave about the helpful hints I send them, as it really helps to plan their stay.

The best

We have stayed in many luxurious hotels in Australia and overseas but this one tops the list. The place is absolutely fantastic. Staying there was the highlight of our holidays. The cottage is spacious and comfortable with everything in it to make you feel well. It even has a fantastic Jacuzzi. The views are fantastic and the surmounting is peaceful and relaxing. We shall recommend this place to anyone we know and we would love to visit it again and stay there even longer.
