Unfortunate checkin nightmare

We tried to check in and our reservation was not in their system. The hotel made us wait for several hours in the middle of the night and would not help us get accommodations. Eventually they agreed to give us a room and told us we could reconcile the issue in the morning. Reasonable but older facilities and terrible service experience, even if the receptionist were polite.

Nice hotel in nice location

The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. The facilities were all very well maintained and clean. The appartments could hardly be closer to the beach (albeit a small and stony one). The pool was adequately sized and big enough for a swim when not at its busiest. The pool area was very clean and well maintained. There were plenty of sunbeds but all the shaded ones got snapped up by towels very soon after the 9am opening time. The breakfast was excellent with loads of choices and the dining room was spacious with lovely views over the marina. We had the buffet dinner one evening which seemed good value considering the number of options available, although the drinks were a bit pricey. We used the local tennis courts and table tennis at the Porto Sole camp. The hotel website implies they are facilities for the guests but we had to pay standard walk-in prices for them. The hotel reception staff couldn't clarify this for us.

Nice hotel but overpriced with small annoyances

Hotel is nice and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was the highlight of our stay. Drawbacks: 1) Parking the car near the hotel room is a daily horror: parking is clearly a big problem, the number if parking spots are extremely limited. 2) During our stay the hotel was fully booked and there were limited number of keycards: we recieved only a single card for a family of 3 and the card was needed also in the room to enable electricity... I had to argue to get another card?! 3) A number of insects were found in a glass of lemonade in the hotel restaurant. Instead of bringing a new one (this is what we requested) they charged the beverage when we asked the bill and made a big fuss when we refused to pay for it?! 4) I am not into watching TV during a vacation but unfortunately it rained... the TV in the room was really small and old, the number of channels very limited. 5) No wifi Internet access in or near the room. You have to take a LAN cable and have a laptop to have Internet in the room but nowadays who carries these stuff when on vacation? It's a pitty... In nearby campings there is a good wifi access even on the beach! The place is definity not worth the high price range...

Great placee

Lovely resort type hotel next to small village with bars and restaurants. Our room overlooked the sea and was beautifully decorated. We have been travelling for several weeks and Belvedere had the best breakfast of anywhere we have stayed. Egg & bacon chefs meant even hot breakfast was freshly cooked.

Hotel was a Huge Disappointment

Here is the short list of problems: 1. Parking was severely limited. Had to walk ½ Km with luggage. 2. Airconditioning in the room did not work. 3. No WiFi. Only connection to internet in the room was by wire for which a daily fee was tacked on. 4. Given room with King size bed rather than two twins as requested. 5. Layout off facility was poorly designed...carry luggage down steps so that they could be carried back up steps to the room. 6. Directions to the hotel are poor, with street signage nearly absent. 7. Hotel is overpriced for what you get. 8. Hotel appears dated with the sidewalks and 1000's of steps showing wear. 9. Hotel personnel did not seem to care or want to remedy any of the problems. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT STAYING AT THIS HOTEL!!

Vrsar is wonderful.

The hotel sits on a hill over the town of Vrsar, Croatia. Wonderful fishing village that is quiet and peaceful in Sept We only had one day in Vrsar but we wish to go back again. The only problem with the Belvedere is that the check out is 10:00 in the morning and no late check out. Made it a bit difficult to spend the day in town. All our other check out times on this European trip have been 12:00 noon

Great hotel with beautiful surroundings close to the Old Town. The only problem we had was that it was overbooked & the front desk kept repeatedly pushing us to stay at their sister hotel next door. We refused & decided to wait 3hours to check in only to have them urge us to stay next door. We had to insist on staying here for them to allow us to check in. Other than this stay was excellent. Staff from then on were ver helpful with ANYTHING we needed. Would recommend to anyone to stay here & we're looking forward to coming back.

Good hotel (we stayed in the self catering studio). Only a 5 minute walk to the harbour area. Really nice, clean and well laid out pool area.

Great hotel for a family

We had a fabulous time during our stay at Maistra and will be returning. The staff was helpful, friendly and spoke English. We traveled with 5 children and the hotel exceeded our needs. The restaurants were good and affordable. Two families with 5 children were able to eat for less than $60 euro. There were little shops within walking distance as well as many choices for meals. A few helpful hints would be to bring your own toiletries, beach towels and water shoes (beach has no sand). If you have access to a car, a grocery store is within a 5 minute drive. The rooms are well stocked with microwave oven, a range and a small refridgerator.

Superb experience

We had a great room (actually a 2 bedroom apt for the 2 of us with a kitchen/lounge). The quality was great, modern and stylish The view was amazing The location is on a decent beach (no sand) but clean and tidy Decent snorkelling in the bay Good value boat trip 300M from the hotel Lot's of eating/drinking choices within 500M of the hotel Close to Pula airport and town If you don't like the place (unless you are a teenager, wanting a drunken party town) you are very difficult to please

Maistra Resort Belvedere

Very nice resort we really enjoy our stay there (May-end 2011). There were just a few minor things to complain about. The apartment was not cleaned every day. With the beginning of the season the resort was full-booked (crowded restaurant, long waiting). The personnel was very friendly, however, is not the perfect family-friendly resort for families with 2-3 years old kids. Small pebble beach next to harbor and small playground on the premises available only.

Overpriced mis-represented appartment in a tourist resort with no heart and bad service

This resort is not what you might think it is. We booked an appartment for 4 persons, 2 of whom were my daughters. The ages of my daughters were given as part of the booking process (12 and 14) but the room we were given had 1 bedroom and a small, very hard, sofa bed in the lounge/kitchen area. This was totally unacceptable and we explained this to reception. They had the audacity to tell me we were all meant to sleep in the same room. Tomislav on reception was particularly unpleasant and totally dismissive of our concerns. I explained that teenage girls require privacy and that all we needed was 2 rooms. Basically he told us to get stuffed and then ignored us and did something else. The other receptionist gave us a slightly larger version of the same arrangement but we were given no assistance in changing rooms and when we got to the room there was broken glass on the floor and no soap in the bathroom. This resort would work for a couple or a family with a small child but frankly is not worth the money on that basis. It would be hugely expensive for a 2 person holiday and the resort is basically man-made and very touristy. In any event BEWARE, an appartment means 1 bedroom.

Almost perfect, but a major flaw.

This is a classy resort with a fantastic location and one of the best breakfasts anywhere. But for us, there was one major flaw. It was impossible to park near our room and carrying suitcases up and down steep steps is too much to manage for people our age (we are in our 70's but healthy and still in reasonable shape). And there doesn't seem to be anyone available to provide help. Still, we enjoyed our stay immensely and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who can manage to get their luggage to their room.

Good experience at Belvedere Resort Apartments

Service and apartement at Belvedere Resort was better than expected, although apartment for 3 persons was on small side it was brand new and very well cleaned. Service was friendly and location 50 m from sea/beach was gret. Pool-side was crowded. Only issue is parking: possible to park near your lodging but don't expect to get marked parking-spot and squeeze in...
