Rustic Retreat
The setting is like a retreat - quiet, remote, and picturesque. Many amenities need to be updated. The refrigerator froze our food on the minimum setting. The heaters are either out of date or ineffective. The night light doesn’t work. The kitchen area is spare and outdated. The shower works great but is very small. There should have been photos of the interior on the listing. The host was gracious and welcoming and Peaches the kitty was a great hostess.

In need of TLC
The kitchenette was four appliances on an old desk and two available electric outlets. Wash dishes in bathroom but no dishtowels or paper towels. One small pot when we arrived, had to ask for a pan to cook eggs. Eating utensils for two people only. 1 teaspoon of salt and no pepper, and nothing else. Refrigerator froze things. No hand soap. Table was oval tv trays and the bed was your chair. Rug was dirty and couch had slip cover to hide it's age and condition. "Black bottom" pool was having its black bottom come loose and floating like kelp in freezing cold pool full of debris from overhead oak tree. The bed was comfortable. We left 3 days early.

Very misleading
Extremely dirty carpet, musty smell & 1 screen to air out the place. Shower incredibly tight and I’m a sm person. Pool was trashed. No way could you go in. At night you can’t see to walk. We left a day early as soon as races were over. Terrible! Not one to leave bad reviews but this was bad!

I don't recommend
The property felt old and out dated. Questionably clean? Property was very unkept. Host phone number was disconnected. Didn't receive the check in information and was trying to call to get in. Host showed up late and felt it was no big deal. He was nice enough, but it wasn't a good experience. Carpet very dirty looking or old, bathroom not good. We were calling VRBO and the host showed up.

It was great!
Everything went smoothly- the only thing was I wish the check in information was on the page that the listing was once you booked but that really wasn’t a major issue. The property was STUNNING! Al was awesome & so, so sweet. It was very cozy, clean & homey. My husband and I came into town for a bicycle race event & the location was super close to the Laguna Seca Raceway & not far at all from downtown Monterey. I would definitely recommend this spot & would book again!

Perfect place for a getaway
Perfect for our stay in Carmel. It was myself and my 25 year old son. Plenty of room for the two of us. Al and his wife were warm and welcoming. The property was very well maintained. The house was extremely cozy. I would 100% advise anyone who wants to visit Carmel Valley to stay at this location. I can't say enough about how nice it was.
