We booked this hotel around a week before we travelled as it had good reviews. I tried contacting the hotel by phone on several occasions over two days before booking but no one was answering the phone and my answerphone message wasn't responded to. That aside, the two ladies we dealt with on Reception on arrival and departure were excellent and the room was well furnished and modern. However, I did notice a layer of dust on the lamp base when I had the lamp on in the evening which did make me wonder how thoroughly the room had been cleaned. The smoke alarm in the room was also missing it's cover and the lights were behaving a little strangely when switched on first thing in the morning (constantly dimming and then getting brighter for the first couple of minutes). These were just minor niggles but still annoying. We were also a little concerned that being on the top floor (third floor?) whether we'd get out in the event of a fire with no fire escape. I'm sure the hotel met fire regs but we were still concerned all the same. Overall, our stay was a comfortable one and the hotel has obviously had a lot of investment in recent years (it was presumably a former guest house?). One other thing to mention is parking. On street parking in the area was difficult to come by if you were looking to park close to the hotel. There is, though, a pay & display car park a couple of streets away.
