Hospitality Plus

Pros: Everything, including all the little touches. As above wonderful hospitality and in a piece of Tasmanian heritage.
Cons: A minor thing, good room kettle but care in pouring as steam can burn.
Location: Great position to region including access to great historic homesteads at Woolmers and Brickendon. Both a must visit.
Wonderful stay in a wonderful B&B. Worth every cent. Most hospitable hosts, friendly, helpful, informative, welcoming , faultless. Great service. Only place to stay in the town of Longford. Great breakfasts, with great local produce and providence. Will be back there again. A reason why Tasmania is such a great destination. Good proximity to Launceston and north east and the north west coast.

Dear Rukshan, Thank you for your lovey review, and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and had time to look around the garden (which is looking even more beautiful this week!). The roses are just starting to bloom, so I hope that you will be able to return with you wife to show her the garden, Kind regards, Annabelle and Richard

Home away from home

My partner and I stayed at the Racecourse Inn for a week. Both Richard and Annabelle were absolutely wonderful hosts and made us feel right a home from the very first day. The room was lovely and cosy, with little comforts such as a complimentary port, cookies and little water bottles, fantastic for the cool autumn weather in Longford. The property is steeped in history and immaculately restored and maintained. Being only minutes from two world heritage sites makes it a fantastic base to explore the north of Tasmania, whilst still being able to return to a lovely comfortable country atmosphere. I could not recommend the Racecourse Inn more if I tried, it is absolutely a wonderful place to stay for long or short periods of time, due to the fantastic hosts and excellent accommodation.

Dear Keira, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and leave such lovely feedback. It was such a pleasure to have you both to stay and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed historic Longford, and particularly Woolmers and Brickendon. We are so lucky to have two World Heritage properties right on our doorstep. It's a pleasure for Richard and I to be able to share this beautiful house with guests, and I'm so happy that you both enjoyed your stay. I hope that we may see you again if you return to Longford. With very best wishes, Annabelle and Richard

Beautiful historic Inn with amazing hosts

Pros: The beautiful decor and the wonderful hosts!
Cons: We didn't have anything that could have been improved on during our stay.
Location: Right in Longford near everything - shopping, historic sights, fishing.
We stayed here as a last minute choice the night before heading out to the airport which is not far away. We had the Queen room upstairs. It was so lovely and comfortable. The bed was comfy and the room immaculately clean. Breakfast is ordered the night before and you get a lovely home cooked brekkie, very well presented by Annabel, the inn keep. The inn is full of history and interesting things and Annabel's beautiful art. It's close to the airport and several good places to eat. The gardens are delightful! The dining room had comfy seating, a roaring fire and a rare barrel ceiling. The details have been attended to properly in this place. You could just imagine the stagecoaches coming through in years gone by. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Tassie.

Dear Kathy, Thank you so much for your lovely review and for taking the time to post it. I'm so pleased that you really enjoyed your stay. Late Autumn is one of the nicest times to visit Longford with all of the Autumn colours in the gardens and of course the log fire. We consider ourselves really fortunate to be the custodians of this beautiful inn, and it's wonderful to be able to share it with guests. I hope you had a safe trip home and I that we might see you again if your return to Tasmania. With very best wishes, Annabelle and Richard

Great B&B with character

Pros: The character - it was a beautiful old building, which was decorated beautifully.
Location: Location was close to some historical homesteads, and close to Launceston. Only down-side was that there weren't many places to eat.
We stayed for one night on a short self-drive trip around Tassie. We chose this B&B for its character, and the close proximity to Launceston. The room had every convenience, with even some delicious freshly-baked muffins on our arrival. The hosts were lovely, and very easy to chat to, and the accommodation included a hot breakfast which was delicious.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review about The Racecourse Inn, and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay here. Unfortunately we are a little limited in places to eat in Longford, especially on a Monday and Tuesday, however we are only 20 minutes from Launceston. I hope that if you return to Longford, we may have some new restaurants open for you to enjoy. Kind regards, Annabelle and Richard

A Gem

Annabelle was an excellent hostess who provided extras that were not expected. Her local knowledge encouraged us to stay an extra night and fully experience the history of Longford. The breakfasts were something to savour with fresh home grown fruits and a full cooked breakfast. Extremely clean premises and one that should be experienced by all travellers.

Dear Carolyn and Jeff, Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to have you both to stay and I'm so pleased that you were able to get out and about and see some of our beautiful town. As one of the earliest towns settled in Tasmania, Longford has so much history. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday, and hopefully we might see you again on this lovely island.
