There was dog hair all over the couch and floor. Food splatters on the walls. When we asked for it to be cleaned we were met with, “I’m the only one working, I don’t know if I will be able to get to it tonight.” We asked for a refund so we could go elsewhere, and were told no, that there was nothing they could do. We were never offered a new room. Eventually after back and forth requests for something to be done, we asked for another room that was clean. They moved us to a different room which was cleaner. Overall experience was not great.

The gal working during the day was nice but the evening and noc shift left something to be desired, in general staff gave the impression they barely knew what they were doing. We have been coming to Idaho Falls for Thanksgiving for the last 4 years and we’ve always stayed at the Shilo. The last 3 years we were treated great. We have 2 small dogs and usually only paid 1 $25 pet fee, always were given a ground floor. Last year we were even upgraded to a patio room for no extra charge. This year we not only didn’t get a ground floor but we were charged at least $100 pet fee. We have stayed at a couple of different places at times we were staying there in July but each time decided we didn’t want to stay anywhere but the Shilo. After this stay we are seriously considering looking into a new place

Room was clean. Staff was good. But I’ve been staying at this place for over 30 years. I checked out early in the morning. 6:30am. Wanted a cup of coffee. Usually they have a pot in the check in area. Was told I had to go to the restaurant. They were just opening. I walked in and said good morning and all I wanted was coffee. They asked me for my courtesy card for a free breakfast and I told them that I had already checked out and the card was with it. They said I couldn’t have any coffee until I showed them the card. So I told them fine but I will never come back due to their ignorance of a guest asking for coffee at 6:30am. It’s a shame that they have no commen sense that a person at 6:30 am isn’t a guest at the hotel. After using this hotel for over 30 years that definitely was unacceptable!! The rooms are outdated and half the time aren’t throughly cleaned. I’ve put up with this over the years but now over this simple little thing on the rejection of the coffee said it all. Good bye Shilo !!

The facility is old and in need of renovation and upgrades. For example, I had to put my foot against the side of the tub and pull the shower control knob with both hands in order to turn on the shower. The staff, however, are great especially Marla who runs the breakfast service. The low price makes the shortcomings bearable.

This property is very run down and needs a lot of maintenance. I had to request clean linens upon check-in as the ones that were in my room were not clean. I was told when I requested clean linens that they may not be able to accommodate me as there wasn't anyone in housekeeping at the moment. When I had to check out early there was not a manager on duty that could assist me with any kind of a refund. This is not some place I would recommend anyone staying.

The property has a bar and nightclub in the lounge area which we had no clue about. This attracted many people we did not feel safe around with our children. This led to people running up and down the halls screaming about only God knows what and made us feel very unsafe in our locked room. The breakfast was a let down and had no staff and very limited options. The room was dingy and needs a serious deep clean and an update. The only thing I liked about the whole experience was the comfort of the pillows. I will not be returning with my family, the property needs a really good deep clean and updates to just about everything. I cannot stress enough how unsafe we felt due to the shady people being let into the unlocked buildign. 1/10
