We found this hotel conveniently close to the city, so although by no means top of the range it was clean and well priced.

Disappointed

Disappointed shower was terrible. As part of our booking continental breakfast was included and advertised between 7am an 9am. We came down at 8am nothing available or anyone to ask. Very disappointed.

You get what you pay for

Last minute decision to go to Dark Mofo, this was the inly affordable accommodation available. For around $70/night I got a single bed in a private room, with own shower, in a backpackers. Negatives: Walls paper thin, head all sorts Shower was tepid at best (definetely not hot or even warm). The single pillow was so thin it was almost non-existent. But otherwise the place was excellent. CBD is 10 minutes walk. Good pub downstairs. If you don't mind roughing it, it is a fine place.

Back to the Future

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Complete renovation with air conditioning units and modern facilities.
Location: Hobart City
On first sensation on checking into the room, there was a strong smell of disinfectant. Opened Windows. I thought I was back in time. No tea or coffee facilities in the room, no bedside table, tiny television, antiquated plumbing system including the shower. Worst of all was the noise from outer door to the steps, continually banging until 11.00 p.p. at night and the echoing noise within the building magnified every sound. I would also say very unfriendly receptionist and I might add being in my 70s, I detected a trace of ageism because the woman was quite forthcoming with other younger people entering the Hotel. And for all these delights, I paid $112.00 cash. Never again, lesson learnt. Pity you can't inspect before you stay at these places.

Pros: It's location to city
Cons: I think my review may well highlight the areas for improvement staff friendliness and timeliness to reception would be a dramatic improvement to start
Upon booking the hotel sounded like it had the basics we wanted. Eg bed, bathroom, tv, secure parking and restaurant. After a long day traveling the staff were really slow to respond to us at reception desk and then seemed uninterested. The parking was a block away and you had to walk down a dodgy unlit lane way through the smokers lounge to get to front of hotel. yes the room was basic and suited us for night but TV didn't work and bathroom had an odd smell.

Outdated

Our private room was located on the third floor, no lift, the hotel is very outdated, glad only booked for one night.
