I liked everything about Hillcrest, the venue is situated at the foot of the hill in a very quite part of the town, it was a home away for home feeling, very cosy and comfortable it was just perfect, I would like to stay there the next time I am visiting Cooktown.

The property was in a quiet part of town and was clean and tidy. Our breakfast in the morning was really good and had a good variety of cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juices, bread and drinks. Our stand in host Jenny was very helpful.

Our room was a bit dark and gloomy...I was hoping for a bit more of a cheery view.

The rooms were clean and had a bar fridge, table and chairs. Could make own meals in shared kitchen. Tv in a family room was tiny, the size of a laptop. Hard for families to watch a movie together. Unfortunately the floor boards made for a noisy stay. We also were woken very early every morning by other guests slamming doors. Shared bathroom was clean, breakfasts were included and had a good range of cereals and breads. Outside areas were clean and well equipped. Host had great knowledge and did everything to make guests feel comfortable during their stay

Easy access and close to main street

Pros: Great breakfast with plenty of choices was very welcome
Cons: Having to share bathroom and toilets, however with the set up of the guest house, it was suitable for short stays
Location: Plenty to see and do, bowls club, James cook museum, lookout, lighthouse. Hotels had good meals
Lovely grounds and areas to sit and relax. Cleanliness was impeccable.
