Budget hotel close to Kingston shops

Pros: The electric blanket was a redeeming feature.
Cons: Fix the television and powerpoints and clean the bathroom and kitchen.
Location: Great location right near Kingston shops - with IGA just across the road. Comfortable 25 min walk to Parliament House, little park closeby for a walk.
I was not at all impressed with the York. I have stayed in a lot of nicer, cheaper hotels in Canberra. There was a half-drunk out of date milk left in my fridge, the TV channels were impossible to change as the remote seemed to be broken and the powerpoint at the end of the bed kept zapping me. It didn't have a nice vibe about it at all - particularly for the price they are charging. The staff were also not that helpful and each gave different information about their cancellation policy. The bathroom also wasn't very clean.

Wonderful staff, central to shopping and restarunt

Pros: Very central to the area, everything is within walking distance for elderly people like us & the taxi rank is close to the hotel.
Cons: The hanging space in the wardrobe is very unusual and not user friendly have not come across anything like this before. Not good for the elderly.
Location: Very central location, plenty of eating places and very diverse, chemist etc, 5 min walk to War Memorial, Questacon and other interesting options.
We were very impressed with the accommodation and the staff were excellent. the room was very clean and the air-conditioning was very good. The rooms are serviced every day which doesn't need to be if you are only staying a couple of nights in my opinion. Overall we were very satisfied.

Awesome stay at the York Canberra

Pros: The room and location.
Location: Lots of places to eat as well as convenience of local shops (BWS, IGA, etc).
I was so pleasantly surprised at my stay at the York. After a long day "at the office" I came back to a beautiful room, and lots of places to eat right across the street. Just FYI - don't go to the bakery across the street for a coffee in the morning!

Great location

Great location with many options for food just across road, bus running past front door, good undercover car parking. Only issue was no way of getting luggage to room other than stairs and, after a long drive, was difficult making multiple trips up and down two flights of steps

Spacious, but noisy!

Quite an old building, didn't realise there were no lifts, had to drag suitcase up a few levels of stairs. Entrance to the building after parking was confusing, walked around the building outside before finding the stairs to my apartment. It was nice on entering, TV in the lounge was quite small and the TV in the bedroom was virtually useless, could only watch sports channels or one news channel! Not even free to air TV! Room was really noisy, everytime someone entered their own apartments, the doors banged really loudly and the apartment shook!!! Also has a lot of dogs in the apartments next door, I actually thought I was next door to a dog shelter!!! Room was nice, but overall experience was lack lustre. And don't get me started on how to enter and depart the garage!!

Can't fault room. Would stay there again.

Pros: Bed really comfortable, room spacious with lovely balcony overlooking street.
Location: Lots of restaurants nearby, really handy. Great breakfast at café on corner of street
Got there late. Staff rang us to organise key collection. Very accommodating. Loved it's location. Room terrific with King Bed, spacious bathroom and kitchenette. Cute balcony which got the morning sun and overlooked the shopping district. Area pretty quiet except for road noise late at night from hoons. A selection of restaurants a short walk across the street and around the corner. Had 2 floors of stairs to climb to get to room, which for the eldery would be a problem.

Nice Hotel with one negative.

Pros: Location, amenities, cleanliness
Cons: Credit Card security deposit still not reversed after 3 days. Had to phone to get action. Staff had not initiated reversal. Too frequent occurrence.
Location: Nice restaurants & Coffee Shops over the road. Close to Parliament House.
Very pleasant hotel and staff but probably wouldn't stay again, see below.

Great location and service

Hotel staff were lovely, the room was very spacious with great amenities. The location of this hotel was perfect, just a short stroll to Kingston and the foreshore.

Well situated within easy access to eateries.

Pros: Friendly staff; clean suite.
Cons: I was surprised that I was expected to wash the dishes before checking out. I expected that room service on check out would include complete cleaning.
Location: Walking distance to Telopea Park, Lake Burley Griffin and attractions such as the National Gallery.
Quiet, comfortable room. Enjoyed the proximity to restaurants and other attractions.
