Vista Deanbilla –walk to beaches,shops,galleries
Enjoy your beach holiday in style in the spacious top floor of our two-storey home. Stroll to Dunwich's beaches, cafes, galleries, & shops, or drive a short 15 min. to surf or watch whales. Original artwork, hardwood floors, and Smeg appliances add a spark of luxury to your beach getaway. The open plan living and dining area flows seamlessly onto your own large private deck with bay views.
You won’t want to leave once you step through the doors of this charming island home. Over the past 20 years of living in this property, we have focused on creating a comfortable, unique, and relaxing atmosphere, and we want our guests to enjoy the place as we did.
Begin your day with breakfast with the birds on the covered upstairs deck overlooking Moreton Bay. Our local kookaburras and magpies are always keen for a visit, and keep an eye out for rainbow lorikeets in the winter months!
The house is the perfect spot for doing anything…or for doing nothing at all. After a day of diving with manta rays, searching for hidden sea creatures on the sand flats, surfing world-class Cylinder Beach, cooling off at Myora springs, or watching humpback whales from the headland, wash off the day’s sand and salt water in a corner bathtub with rain shower head, and relax in the hammock on the deck. When it’s time to wind down, cosy up with one of our eclectic book selections on the daybed or reading lounge in the comfortable living room. Toys, books, DVDs, and games suitable for a range of ages will entertain both young and old if the weather keeps you inside.
The kitchen features granite benchtops and stainless steel Smeg and Electrolux appliances. The open plan layout allows the chef to be part of the action, and the kitchen is stocked with all the cookware necessary to whip up a gourmet meal. Snack on lychees plucked off the tree from the upstairs deck, and pick a lemon or lime from the garden to squeeze over your Straddie-caught seafood.
As you watch the sun dip down below Peel Island, enjoy cool bay breezes with your favourite cocktail in hand.
In the evening, retire to the expansive master bedroom with cosy sitting nook, and enjoy stunning views of Moreton Bay. Sleeping options can be tailored to your requirements, with a queen-sized bed and double futon bed in the master bedroom, a double bed in the smaller second bedroom, and a king single daybed in the living room.
*************** Please note that this apartment is the upper level of a two-story home, with each self-contained level rented separately as apartments. At times both apartments may be let. Dunwich is your first port of call when arriving to beautiful North Stradbroke Island from the mainland. It is convenient to bayside beaches and boat ramps, and hosts a variety of local Quandamooka artisan shops, restaurants and clubs, and even our local museum. Straddie, as the locals call it, is a relaxing fishing and beach destination, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Straddie Bay Views is centrally located in easy walking distance from both ferry and water taxi terminals, bus stops, shops, and cafes as well as local art galleries and the museum. Two peaceful bayside beaches are only minutes away, perfect for swimming at high tide or exploring at low.
Attractions in Dunwich include the native wildlife, with kangaroos and koalas often seen along the shoreline and in parks. It is a short 15-minute trip by bus or car to nearby Point Lookout and Amity Point, on the ocean side of the island, where you can enjoy surf beaches and an array of dining options. Brown Lake, a large natural fresh water lake is less than 10 minutes drive from the apartment, or can be accessed via a 45 minute walk through native bush. Direct four-wheel drive access to Main Beach is only 15 minutes away. The property is ideally positioned for access to the local boat ramp opening onto the many fishing spots that Moreton Bay has to offer.
Bringing a vehicle is a great way to get the most out of your Straddie experience with daily vehicle barge services to the island. Conventional roads link the islands main centres of Dunwich, Amity and Point Lookout. For the more adventurous a 4wd vehicle will provide access to the more remote sections of the islands stunning beaches. Alternatively, we are conveniently located a short walk from the ferry terminals and also a public bus stop. Water taxis departing from Cleveland, also service the island if you do not wish to bring a vehicle. The apartment is a comfortable walking distance from the taxi terminals. Regular bus services still provide access to Point Lookout and Amity and local taxis are also available. Search “Stradbroke ferries” for details of barge services or “Stradbroke ferries” or “Straddie Flyer” for water taxi services. The Straddie Flyer water taxi service also provides a free bus service from the Cleveland train station which meets many of the Cleveland trains. (see website for details)

When you live on the sunshine coast where do you go for a holiday ....
The place is large, airy, with plenty of room. Basically if you want a bit of space to yourself you can. House is clean and comfortable and obviously much loved by the family. One of those places you walk in and think, yep this is a home, and you instantly veg out. Its walking distance to the brewery, shops, museum etc in Dunwich. Can highly recommend.

Lovely stay, thank you
We'll come again and loved the unit, the balcony and the comfy couches and beds and the well equipped kitchen. So good to be staying away from the bustle of Point Lookout and get to know some of the Dunwich local shops and food stops ☺

The place was clean and as shown in the photos. Lots of spots to lounge around and relax.
Regardless of the weather the place was comfortable and well equipped.
We didn’t have a car so we were reliant on public transport which was good but limiting.
I think next time I would bring a car with me.
Overall an excellent stay.

Weekend away
Dunwich is a walkable small town with peaceful waterfront and glorious sunsets. It was close to Brown Lake and the Blue Lake bushwalk which we loved so much we came back later in the week. We loved the food at the Sports Club and cooking in the well supplied and organised house.

Lovely comfortable accommodation
We very much enjoyed staying at this property. It is very well equipped for cooking, and has plenty to entertain everyone, including kids. The owners and caretaker were very accommodating with our arrival and departure times, were very responsive to messages, and went out of their way to make things easy for us. The only small suggestions we could make would be to provide some instructions for using the oven (we did figure it out after a little confusion!) and maybe a little more local area information on things to do etc. Overall a great place to stay, thank you so much for your hospitality.

It was a fantastic experience . Loved the place.
We enjoyed staying in this place . The place is nice and tidy with a big living room and patio . My daughter was crawling through the house and I don't need to worry much as the house is child safe. There are even some toys for the kids .

Homie and great for a family stay!
The house is perfect for a family stay. Close to the ferry and 20min drive to Amity point and point look out.
We travelled with a baby and having aircon in the master bedroom helped heaps. The bedroom is huge so any baby stuff fix - cot, changing table, etc. (Not that you need them as enough beds!)
The owners were extremely accommodating with check in times and very helpful and responding to all our msgs.
We’d come again!
