Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki is the only Rain Forest Eco Lodge in the Te Wahi Pounamu World Heritage Rain Forest. It one of the only two Wilderness Lodges in New Zealand, the other being our sister lodge in Arthur's Pass.
Wilderness Lodge Lake Moeraki comprises 28 Luxury and Deluxe suites/rooms, The lodge is situated only 30 km's north of Haast,with an idealistic Rain Forest, Lake, River, Alpine and Sea setting. It is surrounded by the Te Wahi Pounamu Rain Forest on the West Coast of the South Island.

The following list is an example of our many activity options that we choose from to offer our guests. We offer two complimentary activities, and two optional full day guided walks each day. We also have 10km of our own private walking trails that our guests have access to which vary in scenery, fitness levels and length from 5 minutes to 5 hours.
COMPLIMENTARY ACTIVITIES include:
Interior of Rainforest, Glow worms and The Night Sky and Southern Cross Walk, Easy Early Morning kayaking on Lake Moeraki and Freshwater Ecology including feeding our giant friendly eels.
CHARGED ACTIVITIES/ FULL DAY TRIPS include:
Lower Moeraki Rainforest Walk and Kayak to Tasman Seacoast, Fur seal and Seacoast Adventure, Robinson Crusoe and Fiordland Crested Penguin viewing (Sept-Dec), Ships Creek Lagoon and Coastal Walk, Cole Creek to Ships Creek Coastal Walk, Kayak across Lake Moeraki to Giant Matai Tree, Historic Cattle Track to Blue River hut
Additional activities include:
Fishing - Surf casting and fresh water, tackle is available for hire, licenses are issued on site.
Deep Sea charters can be arranged.
Birding - with sighting of rare species in their natural habitat.
Walking notes are available for short or long walks from the Lodge.
We are centrally located so making us an ideal hub for short trips to areas such as Jackson's Bay, Nights point, Bruce Bay, Haast and many more.
