Nuku’alofa is the capital of the South Pacific island nation of Tonga. The country is made up of over 170 islands, with Nuku’alofa sitting on the largest island of Tongatapu. Everything is located inside interesting traditional buildings. Another of the main attractions in the city is old Royal Palace. Constructed from wood, the walls are white and the roof is red. It is the official home of the Royal Family, and although visitors are not allowed into the grounds, it can be easily seen from outside.

The beaches are a tropical oasis, with beautiful sands and sparkling waters. You can sunbathe, swim, and surf, as well as admire stunning coral and marine life with a diving or snorkelling adventure. Other places within easy reach to visit include the many royal tombs at Mu’a and the fascinating blowholes at Houma. Head to Kolovai to see the island’s unusual flying foxes and visit nearby islands for even more sights.
