Stay in our Koh Samui hotels and explore Thailand’s third largest island, which boasts beautiful beaches, exciting nightlife, delicious seafood and acts as a great base for visiting the Ang Thong Marine National Park. Stay in our Samui Island hotels and explore the island’s beaches which offer something for everyone, whether you enjoy water sports, surfing, massages or just relaxing away from the crowds. Probably the island’s most popular beach is Chaweng, which is located on the island’s east coast. Chaweng boasts 6km of soft sand, where you will find heaps of water sports and the island’s most happening nightlife. Or if you are chasing surf, head south of Chaweng to Lamai beach, where you will not only find deeper waters perfect for surfing, but also great Thai massages, facials and saunas. See palm trees that grow at ridiculous angles on Laem Set beach, or to find your own piece beach away from the crowds, at Taling Ngam Bay. See Samui’s animals at work and at play: Go on an elephant trek; touch deadly snakes at one if the island’s many snake shows; see a monkey show and marvel at their famed coconut collecting skills, which once formed the basis of the island’s economy; see rare marine life and Bengal tigers at the Samui Aquarium; or see hundreds of colourful butterflies and flowers at the Samui Butterfly Garden in the island’s south east. Not to be missed, while visiting Koh Samui, is Hin Ta and Hin Ya. Meaning “Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks” and named for their similarity to the sexual organs, these unusual rock formations are located on the south end of Lamai beach. Also be sure to visit the Na Muang Waterfall which falls from the highlands over two levels. The most easily accessible is the lower level, where the water falls 20m into a pool which is great for refreshing swim. Koh Samui contains a number of temples, of most interest are Wot Sumret, which houses white marble Buddha thought to be hundreds of years old, and Wat Kiri Wongkaram and Wat Khunaram, which both contain the mummified bodies of monks, one still in the mediation position in which he died. A short boat road north of Koh Samui lies Koh Pha Ngan, which boasts great swimming and snorkelling in the 18 bays that ring the island. The island also boasts untouched mountainous rainforest and Hat Rin beach where thousands come to dance the night away on the beach during the world-famous full moon parties. Koh Pha Ngan is perfectly situated for a day trip out of Koh Samui, or take your time and stay in one of our Koh Pha Ngan hotels. |
