Longing for an Asian holiday with the lot? Then head to Thailand, also known as the Land of Smiles, for a trip that will really put a smile on your face. Come and discover what makes this tropical country one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world with our range of Thailand hotels!
Bangkok is the capital and largest city in Thailand, and is where a lot of first-time visitors and those after a taste of the big city go. Here, you can expect a bustling and cosmopolitan scene that contrasts with remnants of the country’s history and culture. Don’t be surprised to see luxurious mega-malls, fine eateries and ritzy clubs sitting alongside ancient temples and museums. Don’t miss a visit to the spectacular Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), a riverside temple easily recognised by its tall spires and incredible image when lit up at night. Climb to the central spire and see Bangkok from the top!
Learn even more about the history of this beautiful country in Ayutthaya, the city that served as the Thai capital for over 400 years. Explore the city’s ancient ruins at the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park and you’ll catch a glimpse of the region’s impressive past. The park’s grand temples house artefacts from another age, such as intricate statues, detailed paintings and even a Buddha head trapped by trees. To the north is Chiang Mai, considered by many to be one of Thailand’s most culturally significant cities. There are over 300 temples in the city for Buddhist, Sikh and Hindu communities and a range of events that bring them together. Most spectacular is Loi Krathong in November, during which thousands of lanterns are launched into the air and flower arrangements are released onto the river.
Perhaps you’d rather a beach getaway? Then head to Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui, Krabi, Hua Hin or Koh Phi Phi to relax on warm sand or swim, snorkel and surf in clear blue waters. If a serious party is what you’re after, Koh Pha Ngan is just for you, with its monthly Full Moon Parties held on Haad Rin beach.
Wherever you go, there’s so much to do around Thailand, from shopping for everything under the sun at malls and markets, to finding out why they call Thailand the golf capital of Asia. Animal lovers take note: Thailand’s national animal is the elephant, so having a close encounter with one is something that’s easy to arrange! Of course, you won’t be able to avoid Thailand’s delicious cuisine – expect to treat your tastebuds to medley of flavours and dishes such as Pad Thai, stir fries, curries and mango sticky rice.
