If shopping isn't your favourite pastime, visiting Jim Thompson's House is an alternative way to spend an afternoon from your Siam hotel. Jim Thompson is an American expatriate who helped rejuvenate the Thai silk industry after the Second World War and nowadays his beautifully traditional house is used as a fascinating museum and also works as a tranquil getaway whilst modernity swallows the rest of the Siam.
