Shopping districts
Guangzhou is the most important retail distribution centre in South China. Grandview and Teemall at Tianhe Road are the largest shopping malls in the city, while Beijing Road is always active, as thousands of Guangzhounese pour into the street every day. Shangxiajiu pedestrian street is a hot spot for shoppers, with a mixture of Chinese and Western architecture. La Perle and the Friendship Stores at Huanshi Dong Road offers genuine designer clothes, with shops such as Versace, Louis Vuitton, Polo and Prada.
For arts, craft, and cultural goods, go to Daxin Road or Wende Road. If you are looking for jade, visit to Changshou Rd.

Pearl River Night Cruise
You won’t want to miss the experience of gliding down the Pearl River on a leisurely cruise taking in the abundance of neon lights on both banks The great sceneries along the Pearl River are something too good to miss. On a full-moon night, you may even see a big 'pearl' reflected on the waters of the Pearl River, as described in the legend in which the name of the river originates.

Xi Guan Heritage Streets
Xi Guan was the neighborhood for the rich and famous of Guangzhou two centuries ago. The Xi Guan Mansions are compared with the quadrangle courtyards of Beijing and the old alleys of Shanghai as 'memory ports' of the city. Here you may appreciate the old ways of life, shown by the delicate architectural structures. Walking into a Xi Guan heritage street gives you the feeling of taking a step back in time to another age.

Bai Yun Mountain
Bai Yun Mountain is the easiest getaway in Guangzhou. Climbing the mountain is great fun as there are breathtaking views of the city's buildings and skyscrapers along the way, as well as a number of interesting historic sites. A treat is a dish of bean curd made with mineral water on the mountain top restaurant. Attractions on the mountain provide a comprehensive range of cultural, health and entertainment facilities. A cable car is available for easy access to the top of the mountain.

Chen Clan Temple
Once an ancestral temple for the Chen families from 70 counties in the 19th century, the Chen Clan Temple has become a museum for local arts and culture. Its exquisite carvings and stylish architecture represent the best of the region. A famous Chinese poet once stated that visiting the temple is ‘better than reading books for ten years’.

Guangxiao Temple
A Buddhist temple that occupies an important position in the history of Buddhism in South China. Master Hui Neng made a name for himself in this temple and later became the founder of the Southern stream of Zen Sect Buddhism that has influenced many generations. The temple is full of Buddhist relics and ancient architecture.

Wholesale Market
Although Guangzhou is full of shopping attractions, the Wholesale Markets at Yi De Road are among the largest in the country. Thousands of wholesalers line up at this 1,200m long street selling seafood, dried fruits, snacks, and giftware, with quality assured.

Safari Zoo
Xiangjiang Safari Park is home to more than 10,000 animals of 300 species from different parts of the world. Come here to see the performances by polar bears, South American sea lions and Thai elephants. The animals that reign supreme here are the 60 white tigers, the largest collection in the world.
