Port Douglas is also the closest gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, a natural wonder abundant with amazing coral gardens and tropical marine life. Tour boats leave for the Great Barrier Reef daily from Port Douglas.
The Daintree Rainforest and the adjoining Cape Tribulation region, north of Port Douglas, are home to some of the oldest surviving rainforests on earth. You can take a four-wheel drive excursion to the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation and visit secluded beaches including Cow Bay, Alexandra Bay and Noah Beach.
A holiday in Port Douglas is all about indulgence. You will spend your days walking along Four Mile Beach and basking in the sun, meandering through the village's galleries, boutiques and famous Sunday markets and perhaps playing a round of golf. In the evening you simply have to choose one of the fabulous world class restaurants for dinner.
