Port Stephens is the home of 160 bottle-nose dolphins, and port-in-passing for more than 3000 humpback whales annually. Cruise boats leave every day of the year for dolphin-watching in the Bay and May-November for whale-watching in the open sea.
Almost every water and land sport you can think of is catered for but what is particularly special is the miles and miles of bicycle tracks... or taking the ferry across to Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest and cyling there where it is not only beautiful but dead flat! Visit the Lighthouse and two other historic homes in the area - have lunch or devonshire tea at one on the way back to Sydney.
For thrills, consider a Scenic Trike tour or jet-boat ride.
You could buy seafood at the Co-op and BBQ at Dutchies Beach just down the road, at sunset. Million dollar views and experiences for next-to-nothing!
