The delightful town centre of Gerringong is just a short walk south of Mercure Resort Gerringong by the Sea. This vibrant village has a long history and many fine examples of historic public buildings, churches and homes still remain.

You'll find a great selection of deli's, caf?s, restaurants and craft stores along with supermarkets, chemists and general facilities. And, for the surfing enthusiasts you can't go past the largest surf store on the south coast.

Located 500m above sea level, this once rich dairy farming village boasts a central park with views back towards the "Bends" of north Gerringong and out along the scenic expanse of Werri Beach.

Mercure Resort Gerringong by the Sea. A leisurely stroll will take you directly to beautiful Werri Beach. This scenic stretch of beach behind the sand dune offers something for everyone - quiet seclusion to the north end, fantastic surfing conditions for the keen surfer along the length of the beach and patrolled swimming at the southern end. And, for keen anglers great beach fishing for snapper and whiting. Werri Beach is the location for the annual Gerringong Surf Spectacular each January.

Gerringong Boat Harbour
Like many harbours on the south coast of NSW Gerringong was also a major port for the transport of cedar and local produce. This once busy port had a 400m jetty that extended out into the harbour. Looking at the harbour now, it is hard to imagine the intense activity as boats loaded and unloaded their goods to and from Sydney. By 1888 the railway had arrived at Kiama causing the shift from marine transport and consequently the jetty fell into disrepair - it was soon demolished. Now, you can find a pool, boat ramp and small park. Waters offshore from the harbour reap abundant catches of Snapper, Flathead, Kingfish and even Marlin. The harbour is located 2km south of Gerringong by the Sea.
