Marineland Motels

Relax and enjoy the comfort and hospitality at the Motel, observe or photograph some of the preserved/rebuilt architecturally designed buildings of the late 1800s that the 1931 earthquake destroyed (Napier is known as the "Art Deco" city of the world). Take a walk through the Napier Museum and see the photographs of the destruction caused by the great quake, the machinery and equipment used by the early settlers in the province to etch out a living.

Visit the National Aquarium to see a wide variety of marine animals being cared for. Unfortunately the bottle nosed Dolphins at Marineland Marine Park have passed on and the park is now closed
There is even an opportunity to feed and "swim" under supervision, the fish

Bring your own or hire golf clubs and play a round or 2 of golf on the internationally ranked "Black Rock" golf course at Cape Kidnappers or just settle for a round or 2 on the challenging courses within 10 mins of the motel.

Take a day fishing/diving charter into Hawke Bay for some Snapper, Terikihi, Kingfish or go for the big yellow/blue fin tuna (to mention just a few of the many species of fish available). Dive or place Pots on Pania Reef for a Crayfish or 2, or if you are into the "Big game" species, head off shore for a day or two for marlyn, gropper or shark. We can even put you in touch with some of the most experienced fresh water and general game hunters in the Bay if you wish to further your "great outdoor" pursuits

If it is white water rafting or just a little canoeing that is desired, singles/doubles or triples are available within easy walking distance of the Motel.

For the serious outdoor hunter seeking pig, deer or goat, we can put you in touch with some of the most experienced hunters in the Hawkes Bay.

For serious fresh water angler we can guide you to some the most productive fresh water trout rivers/lakes in the North Island and accessible within half an hours drive of the Motel.

For the wine & food connoisseurs, we can point you to the finest restaurants/wineries in the Bay where you will be guaranteed an experience to remember.

Then there is the Hawkes Bay Cycle trails, the cycling capital of NZ. With more than 133kms of dedicated trails involving mountanous lookouts and beautiful lowland rivers to endangered wetland wildlife and the expansive Hawkes Bay coastline. Hawkes Bay is also the home of great road riding, mountain biking and city cycling

Then there is the Ahuriri Estuary, the most significant habitat of its type located located on the East Coast of the North Island between Wellington and Bay of Plenty.

Originally it boasted 3840 hectares of Wetland, a home and feeding ground for many resident and migratory birds. The eartquake of 1931 reduced that to just 470 hectares and a little over 70 species of migrant birds. One such species, the Bar-tailed Godwit (Kuaka - the Maori name for the species) Breeds fom Northern Scandinavia across Siberia to Alaska, makes the longest non-stop flight of any bird. It travels 11000 - 12000kms, to its destination here in NZ

And don't forget the "night life", we are within easy walking distance of some of the nicest bars, cafe's and restaurants Napier has to offer.
