Negri Sembilan - Seremban Hotels

If you’re looking for some peace and quiet away from the regular tourist trails but still want great food and shopping, Seremban’s your ticket! The capital of Negri Sembilan, Seremban has diverse food options, shopping malls, peaceful walking tracks, historic buildings and temples. Book your Seremban hotel with us and enjoy the small-town feel of this relaxed Malaysian district.

Seremban was known as Sungai Ujong until the discovery of tin ore in a nearby town in the 1870s, which caused a wave of immigration to the area. The town was renamed Seremban, which is said to come from sarimban, a traditional game of throwing small pebbles in the air and attempting to catch them. The town soon became popular not only for mining, but also for business. Today it’s home to almost 600,000 people!

Things to do

Seremban has both street food and restaurants to delight cuisine connoisseurs. Beef noodles, roast duck, laksa, seafood, dim sum, it’s all here! Can’t live without your morning coffee? You’ll find a wide selection of cafes around Seremban, and the people of this town love a good breakfast. There are many shopping centres in Seremban, and two of the biggest are Terminal One Seremban, located in a bright pink circular building, and AEON Seremban Two.

But it’s not all about food and shopping (although those things are important). Don’t miss Sri Balathandayuthapani Temple, a Hindu temple built in 1895 that houses a chariot made of gold! Be sure to ask permission and remove your shoes before you enter. Close by, you’ll find the Lake Gardens, where a run on the jogging paths will take you along fancy bridges over lakes, past lawns, gazebos and clipped hedges. The State Mosque looks over the gardens, with nine pillars representing Negri Sembilan’s nine districts. The Handicraft Centre is just north of the state mosque and a good place to pick up a souvenir or craft gift.

Seremban is 70 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. There you’ll find skyscrapers, temples and lush green parks as well as remarkable natural sights like the Batu Caves, a limestone hill full of huge caverns, guarded by a golden statue of Hindu God Murugan.
