One of Newcastle's favourite parks, King Edward Park, has breathtaking sunken gardens, a rotunda, an obelisk and panoramic views that sweep across the ocean ideal for family picnics. The Bogey hole near King Edward Park offers a refreshing place to cool off. Originally designed as a swimming hole for officers from the convict era, the Bogey hole boasts a stunning pool carved from Newcastle's strikingly sheer cliffs.
For historical buffs, Fort Scratchley is a must see. Just 200 metres from the Novocastrian, fort Scratchley was an operational fort during the second world war. Lose yourself in time and discover for yourself a centrepiece of Newcastle's history.
For the Energetic at heart, parts of the Great North Walk are just waiting to be conquered! There is nothing quite like the walks of Newcastle, where you can delight in strolling up the promenade to the famous Nobby's Lighthouse before being enticed by the refreshing waves of Nobbys beach. Or continue your journey around the paths to Newcastle beach and beyond! And all within a few minutes from your very own Hotel Novocastrian.
