Hotel Cheung Chau Island

Cheung Chau - meaning ‘long island’ in Cantonese - is a beautiful picturesque island, the most popular of all the outlying islands of Hong Kong. Only a 30-35 minute fast ferry ride from Hong Kong's Central district, it feels like a world away from the skyscrapers, traffic and people. Stay in our Cheung Chau accommodation and experience the island’s beauty.

Dating back to the Ming Dynasty, Cheung Chau has a long history as a local fishing village. Currently the waterfront is still a hive of activity, with wet markets, restaurants, food stalls and vendors selling fresh fish, seafood, fruit and vegetables. On Cheung Chau let your worries go and relax at Tung Wan beach, where you can enjoy swimming, windsurfing and kayaking. You can see 3000 year old Bronze-Age rock carvings, located near the water's edge.

Visit the oldest temple on the island, Pak Tai Temple, dedicated to the Taoist God of the Sea and built in 1783. In spring the temple is home to the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, an exciting ritual for the fishing community to pray for safety from pirates, as well as for peace and prosperity. The streets are decorated with colourful flags and a fantastic street procession occurs.

Save the date, organise your ferry ticket, book your Cheung Chau hotel and in no time you will be enjoying this gorgeous historical island.
