Located on the banks of the Elizabeth River there is fishing, heritage and river walks right at your doorstep. Convicts were housed in our cellars during construction of the Red Bridge and a tour of the cellars and stables is included. All main features of the town are within easy walking distance and we are situated at the commencement of the Convict Brick Trail which commemorates individual convicts sent to Australia. There are many buildings in town over 100 years old and detailed walking maps are supplied on arrival. Local sport facilities include a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts and public 25m outdoor swimming pool. A range of shops are in town, together with a number of dining choices, coffee shops and snack bars. If arriving in the evening, please note that as in most of rural Tasmania, restaurants/cafes tend to close early and you should plan to dine by 7:30/8:00pm at the latest.
