The 1802 Restaurant, a tribute to the Hotel?s founding date, is a Stellenbosch gourmet landmark and a popular venue for both guest and town resident. Intimate and relaxed, it offers fireside dining indoors during the cooler months and alfresco service under a vine covered courtyard in summer - for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The 1802 menu is a hearty food lovers' delight, featuring traditional classics like oxtail and duck, Cape dishes including Malay Bobotie, Karoo lamb, or exotic springbok or kudu game cuts, not forgetting a 'must-try' cheesecake or one of this Wine capital's most generous wine lists. For a relaxing poolside drink, cocktail, aperitif or late-night Cape Brandy, guests can also visit our convivial Dutch-named Lounge, appropriately called 'de Kromme Elleboog' (the bent elbow).

Facilities
Standard facilities in all accommodation include: en-suite bathroom with bathrobes, remote control satellite colour television, safe, hairdryer, international electrical sockets and direct international dialling A self-cater tea/coffee making facility and mineral water, with optional mini bar is provided, and room service is available on request. Both smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. The Hotel offers in-room internet access and secure undercover valet parking to all guests free of charge. All major credit cards are accepted. Please note: Though physically limited guests can be accommodated in some ground floor rooms, there are no dedicated wheelchair-friendly/disabled code facilities in the hotel currently.

Local Attractions
A stroll from the Hotel is all it takes to explore the rich attractions of Stellenbosch. For heritage lovers the town offers arguably more museums, galleries and historic experiences than any other village in the Cape. Stroll oak-lined avenues like Dorp Street to take in Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian architectural gems. Visit the period-restored homes of the Village Museum, step back to early Dutch history at sites like the Drosdy, or view major art and artefact collections at the superb Rupert and Sasol galleries. There are abundant boutique, market and shopping opportunities including Oom Samie se Winkel, purveyor of goods quaint and curious. A hop aboard the Vine Hopper shuttle takes one to any of the 200 cellars and historic estates of this famous wine region, with opportunities to sample wine, absorb Cape heritage or enjoy an evening of entertainment at open-air amphitheatres like those at the Spier or Oude Libertas estates. For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, hiking and mountain biking trails, golf at signature courses, and the beaches of the nearby False Bay coastline, 25 km away, are a few of the many outings available, most of which can be arranged through the hotel concierge.

The hotel's leisure facilities include a heated pool in our shady courtyard, where guests can also enjoy refreshments from our Lounge. Babysitting services can be arranged on request. Bicycles, for those who wish to explore the town on wheels, can be organised through the concierge, as can wine tour, sporting, entertainment and other excursions bookings, both locally and further afield. Health, beauty and fitness facilities are all available within easy reach of the hotel.
