The Great Ocean road winds its way along the south east coast of Australia past stunning coastline and spectacular rock formations, including, the Grotto, the London Bridge, and the famous Twelve Apostles. Our Great Ocean Road accommodation is a great base from which to explore Victoria's Shipwreck Coast, where over 700 ships are thought to have been wrecked. Also worth exploring are the area's volcanic landscapes, which boast great fishing spots and the southern hemisphere's largest permanent salt-water lake. Stay in our Port Cambell accommodation and visit the Twelve Apostles to see the striking effects of natural erosion. The Twelve Apostles were originally part of the limestone cliffs, but over time the roaring ocean created caves in the cliffs, which then eroded to form isolated rock stacks, up to 45m high. Our Great Ocean Road accommodation makes a great base to explore the 88,000 hectare rainforest of the Otway Ranges, which boasts lakes, waterfalls, native flora and fauna and ancient tall trees. Stay in our Lorne accommodation and relax in this beautiful resort town, which boasts white sand beaches and gentle waves ideal for children. Our Apollo Bay accommodation is also great for a family holiday as Apollo Bay beach is safe and patrolled by life savers during summer. While in the area see the fascinating glow worms of Melba Gully. While staying in our Great Ocean Road accommodation, be sure to check out the world famous Bells Beach which is home to a number of professional surfing competitions. Bells Beach is popular with surfers as it has large ocean swells, but it is recommended that only experienced surfers enter the water.
