Jervis Bay is 15km long and 10km wide and its crystal clear waters make it the perfect location for all sorts of water activities including diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, windsurfing, surfing and kayaking. Our Jervis Bay hotels are the perfect base for taking a charter boat tour to watch the pod of 60 Bottlenose Dolphins, which live in the bay all year round, and migrating Humpback Whales, which pass the bay in June and July and again between September and November. Using our Jervis Bay hotels as a base, the breathtaking natural scenery of the area can be appreciated by visiting the Booderee National Park. Booderee is a local Koori word meaning “bay of plenty (fish)” and the park boasts white sand beaches, sandstone cliffs at the ocean's edge, a ruined lighthouse with spectacular cliff views and surfing at Cave Beach. Also in the area, is the Australian National Botanic Gardens Annexe, which is 80 hectares large and boasts an extensive collection of native plants. The museum focuses on the history of the district including Indigenous history, early exploration, timber industry, early settlement, lighthouse history, shipwrecks, whaling industry and the Naval base history.
