Whether you are visiting Hobart for business or leisure, or using the city as a gateway to explore the rest of Tasmania, we have Hobart accommodation to suit every budget and holiday need.
Our Hobart hotels are a great base for exploring all the city's historic attractions. Runnymede House, overlooking New Town Bay, was built in the 1830s by Robert Pitcairn, the first lawyer to qualify in Tasmania, who was a strong advocate for the abolition of convict transportation. It is a fully restored stately colonial residence surrounded by delightful grounds. See the fine collection of colonial furniture and art, at the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts, and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, which also has extensive exhibits of Tasmanian Aboriginal culture. Visit the Royal Tasmanian Botanic Gardens to see the historic Arthur Wall. The internally-heated wall was built in 1829, to grow exotic fruits to supply the fledgling colony. To see rare antiquities in a vineyard setting, visit the world-class Museum of Antiquities at Moorilla Estate. Take the ghost tour at the Penitentiary Chapel and Criminal Courts, which features underground passages, cells and the gallows on which 32 people died. Tasmania's colourful maritime history, can be appreciated by visiting Hobart harbour, which is easily accessible from our Hobart hotels. Echoing with history from the early explorers and the first European settlement in 1804, the harbour still bustles today, alive with every kind of vessel from Antarctic supply ships to visiting ocean liners. Visit the Maritime Museum of Tasmania, take a scenic cruise up the Derwent River or take a sailing lesson on a majestic replica of a sailing boat. Salamanca Place is one of the city's liveliest districts and is easily assessable from our Hobart hotels. Georgian warehouses have been restored as artist studios and restaurants, transforming the scenic waterfront into a trendy neighbourhood and fashionable nightspot and every Saturday markets are held in Salamanca Place. While staying in our Hobart accommodation check out one of the many Aboriginal midden sites dotted up and down the coast. These sites are where generations of Aboriginal people cooked shellfish meals and it is asked that visitors please respect these special places and leave them undisturbed. Our Hobart accommodation is a great base over the Christmas-New Year period to celebrate the annual ocean yacht races of the Sydney-to-Hobart and Melbourne-to-Hobart, which culminate in Constitution Dock. If you’re heading to Hobart to watch the cricket, we also have a number of hotels near Bellerive Oval, that will save you precious time and money getting to the game. Or explore the rest of the state with our great deals on Tasmania accommodation. |
