Located in an old stand of native beech on the banks of the Mangawhero River this secluded location is just 8km south of the Ohakune township making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy Mount Ruapehu’s distinctive surroundings and the many activities the region has to offer.

Enjoy seasonal skiing and fly fishing behind the riverside cottages, BBQ or just lay back with a book under the big Beech trees beside the river enjoying the serene sounds of birds and views of mighty Mt Ruapehu. For the more adventurous your hosts can assist with the many walks, river activities and attractions the region has on offer.

The rustic superbly appointed timber lodge and cottage accommodation provides a purpose built gazebo housing a hot tub with over 1 hectare of lawns, Gardens and historical Beech trees. All accommodtion comes with quality linen, selection of crockery and cutlery for take-outs or BBQs, bath robes, hair dryers, luxury person products, iron and ironing board in each unit. Cottages come with in room TV and microwaves.

The property limits guest numbers to maximise privacy and personalised service including meals, (inroom or dining room), tour bookings Laundry service as well as mini bar.

A comfortable guest lounge and conservatory with large fireplaces are features of the property along with it's banquet style dining room. There is Sky TV, DVD and internet on offer in the lodge.

Getting There DO NOT USE NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEMS!! DIRECTIONS ARE INCORRECT AND WILL SEND YOU DOWN AND "NO THROUGH" ROAD. CORRECT DIRECTIONS: From Ohakune township turn at the BP station onto Ohakune/Raetihi road heading towards Raetehi.  5kms down the road you will cross the Mangawhero River bridge.  50 metres past bridge make a sharp right turn onto Mangawhero River Road (good gravel road).  2km down this road on the right hand side is The River Lodge. Drive in main entrance and up to lodge double doors.
Parking Off street parking, very secure.
Things To Do As VIP guests we offer discounted dining with Cyprus Tree restaurant and ski and board hire with TCB. We can organise and have access to over 35 different activities in the local area ranging from the more extreme sports to a calming day at a health spa, golf, bus, walking, one and half day river adventures, fixed wing and helicoper tours and guided trout fishing adventures.

Biking or walking into Ohakune via Mangawhero River Road is a great experience. Bicyles are avaialble for hire with TCB Adventures.
