Old Colony Inn offers three light and airy rooms, The Hampton and The Courtney are both fully en-suited and the Rees has a large adjoining bathroom.
In-room tea and coffee making facilities are provided on a trolley, along with complimentary decanters of Sherry and Port to enjoy as an appetizer or a late nightcap.

The building is Heritage Circa 1825 and was originally built for the storage of hops, which was the major industry in the Derwent Valley. Hops were used for the fermenting of beer and or ales of different sorts.

The courtyard is flag-stoned in sandstone. Spread over the three levels, attached leafy ash, silky oak, and walnut trees give a lovely canopy which all three rooms overlook.
Our property is located in a quiet side street, with the lovely Derwent River and Town Centre and shops just a short stroll away.

Our position offers a great base for day trips to National Park (45 mins); Salmon Ponds Trout Hatchery (15 mins); Hobart City (30 mins); The Beautiful Huon Valley (1 hour); and Port Arthur (2 hours) .

After a day of sightseeing enjoy a glass of wine in the courtyard or restaurant, where breakfast is also served. Dine amongst themed surrounds of our convict artefacts collection. A cooked breakfast is available on request, however juices, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt are on the buffet for your enjoyment.

Getting There Directions for travelling by car from Hobart Airport:

1. Take the Glenorchy A10 exit onto the Brooker Highway
2. Travel through to the Lyell Highway
3. At the Granton roundabout, turn left and follow the signs to New Norfolk and the Derwent Valley, which also directs to Queenstown and Strahan the A10 Highway.

When travelling from the West Coast, cross the New Norfolk bridge and turn left. Exit onto Montagu Street, keeping to the left lane of the divided road which is clearly signposted.
