The Commodore Regent is a well established Icon in the City of Launceston in Tasmania. There are 44 well appointed rooms, providing a range of accommodation types to suit every visitor. The Hotel is perfectly located, with fantastic views overlooking the City Park, and just 3 minutes walk to the mall with a great selection of cafes and shops. We are also very close to Aurora Stadium. It is City location with out all the noise associated with it! The hotel also features a popular bar and our brand new Restaurant 13 has exclusive sweeping views over the City Park. Come and try our new tantalising dinner menu and our selection of Tasmanian wines, with something to please everyone. Restaurant 13 is open 7 Days for Breakfast and Dinner. | Getting There |
From Launceston Airport: Turning right out of Launceston airport onto Evandale Road, travel along until your reach the mayor 2 lane roundabout. Go straight ahead and follow the A8 highway all the way into the centre off town. Take a right turn off into Brisbane Street at the Irish Murphys Pub. Drive around the mall by going left into Charles Street, then right into Patterson Street, then your second right into George Street then left back into Brisbane Street. Follow Brisbane Street along until you reach the City Park, and we are located just opposite the Park on the right hand side. From Hobart: Follow the same direction as above once you reach the A8 highway into town. |

Attractions Entally Estate – is located approximately 20 minutes away from Launceston on the highway to Davenport. The estate is one of the oldest estates in Australia, and was founded in 1819 by Thomas Reibey II. The property also host to the oldest cricket ground in Australia. The house is presented today as a colonial gentlemen’s residence with museum furniture reflective of the period. Around the house are buildings with interpretive panels depicting as life was in between 1819 and 1910. Over 7000 pinot grapevines have been planet a few years ago and are now producing sparkling and pinot noir wine. Entally estate is open 7 days a week from 10am till 4pm. City Park – the historic park is direct opposite the hotel and is a beautiful and tranquil place in which to relax and explore. Marvel at the beautiful gardens and the John Hart Conservatory. The popular Macaque monkeys live in the monkey enclosure and there is a playground and rides, toilettes and barbeques for your use. The grand Albert hall convention centre and design centre are within the grounds of the park. City Park also plays host to the annual Festivale, a tree day celebration of Tasmanian fine gourmet food and wine held each February. Family entertainment is provided by both local and interstate artists. Design Centre Tasmania – design centre Tasmania is home to the Tasmanian wood collection. The collection is a showcase of contempary design and demonstrates the skill and flair of the states finest crafts people. Temporary expedition in the galleries complement the permanent instillations. The design centre also offers a quality design pieces, from jewelry to contemporary furniture. The centre is open every day. Aurora Stadium- just minutes away from the hotel is Aurora Stadium, the world class sporting and entertainment venue located in the Inveresk Precinct and the Tasmanian home of the hawthorn AFL football club National Automobile Museum – on the other side of the city park, the national Automobile Museum has a fine collection of motor vehicles and motorcycle, covering 100 years of automotive history from the 1900 to the 1990’s. The museum contains over 100 exhibits along with regularly changing feature displays. Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery at Inveresk -A short walk from the Motel is the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery at Inveresk, located in the former Launceston Railway Workshops. The Museum has established a magnificent Art Gallery to showcase its renowned fine art, decorative art and craft collections, from colonial to contemporary. Homage is paid to the original purpose of the site with displays outlining the history of the state's railways and recreations of the workshops and the Blacksmith Shop, an intact relic of the state's industrial past. Boag's Centre for Beer Lovers -Launceston is home to the J Boag & Son Brewery. Brewery Tours operate weekdays between 9:00am and 2:00pm, with duration of approximately 1.5 hours and the tour includes a tasting session. In the historic Tamar Hotel, opposite the brewery, you'll learn the history of the proud brewery. The Centre features a museum and is the start and finish point for the brewery tour. Other Attractions River Cruises -can take you into the spectacular Cataract Gorge or down river past historic homes, wetlands, wildlife, and vineyards. You can take a fifty minute Cataract cruise or a longer luncheon, afternoon or dinner trip down the Tamar River. The Cataract Gorge is just a stone's throw from the city centre and offers delightful walks through well-established exotic gardens, hikes through bush land and historic locations such as the Duck Reach power station, the first hydroelectricity scheme in Australia. The Tamar Valley is Tasmania's premier wine growing region, and the Wine Route has been developed to showcase the regions premium wines. The Motel is a great base for exploring the region and what it has to offer. |
