Orpheus Island
Townsville 4810 QLD
Orpheus Island Resort is nestled in a sheltered bay of a National Park Island, which lies on the protected water of the Great Barrier Reef between Cairns and Townsville; and is fringed by some of Queensland's most spectacular coral.

From the moment you board the scenic flight transfer to watch the passing of emerald islands studding the Coral sea below; you will begin to feel the burdens of modern life slip away... Suddenly your life will begin to slide by in a succession of relaxed, crystal-clear days. Orpheus caters for the discerning traveller seeking quality accommodation and experiences in a natural, relaxing and rejuvenating environment.

Orpheus is a sophisticated, first class retreat, without unnecessary formalities. Our atmosphere is relaxed and unspoilt - one we feel best suits a tropical island. Without the intrusions of telephones, televisions, day-trippers or children under the age of 15, tranquility and total privacy is ensured. Furthermore with friendly yet unobtrusive staff, and a limit of 42 guests (only 21 rooms), you will feel that you have discovered your very own island paradise and the space you need to truly find yourself.

Two styles of accommodation compile the resort and all rooms are within close proximity to the beach. The resort has 4 Nautilus Suites each with their own large private courtyard, separate lounge and bedroom area, King size bed (or two single beds on request), spa bath, CD player, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar and fridge, and are fully air conditioned. The second style of accommodation that Orpheus Island Resort has to offer are our Orpheus Retreats (17 Rooms). Each of our Orpheus Retreats have their own ensuite with spa bath, personal patio, King size beds (or two single beds on request), hairdryer, CD player, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, fridge, and are all fully air conditioned.

There are no forced activities at Orpheus, but plenty for you to do...snorkel, play tennis, swim in the ocean or the pools, bushwalk, or take an outboard dinghy and picnic hamper to a secluded beach. Imagine a lazy day in paradise with a picnic lunch on your own private beach with time to snorkel amongst an amazing array of tropical fish and coral. Or for the more adventurous, why not take a day trip and scuba dive on the outer reef, or board your own motorised dinghy and discover the many secluded bays of the Island’s national park. Alternatively, you can opt to do nothing at all - and just relax in a hammock by the beach. The options are endless. One certainty is that at Orpheus you will find the perfect sanctuary.

Then of course there is the cuisine - one of the highlights of an "Orpheus Experience". Our al fresco style restaurant has a relaxed ambience that compliments perfectly with the sparkling sea views. Breakfast and lunch are al fresco, or if you would prefer, our chefs can create a picnic lunch for you to enjoy on your own private beach. Each evening there is a seven-course degustation style menu, guaranteed to take your taste buds on a gastronomic tour.

Our chef prepares a new menu daily, the emphasis being on seafood and exotic delicacies with his own unique tropical influence. If you have special requirements, do let us know and we'll be only too happy to cater for you.
