The Duke of Marlborough Hotel holds the first hotel licence in New Zealand. History and Romance meet in the most spectacular setting in the awesome Bay of Islands. Right on the waterfront, it offers the discerning traveller 6 luxury suites with Bay views as well as 20 beautifully appointed rooms overlooking Russell. Regarded for the high quality of its dining, the hotel boasts two restaurants and one bar to accommodate all budgets. The Duke has been extensively refurbished in 2003. The hotel does not accept amex or diners. |

This Large Suite is on the first floor overlooking The Strand & Russell's sparkling waterfront with a Super King Bed & Living Room with Sofabed. Separate toilet & Bath. Rates are for 2 people. Extra adults $30.00. The room caters for a maximum of 4 adults, and a maximum of 2 children but cannot exceed 4 guests in total. Available bedding configurations:

| Getting There |
The Duke is located in Russell. From Auckland - take state highway 1 to Whangarei. From there, follow direction (north) Kawakawa. From there, follow direction Russell/Paihia/Bay of Islands. At Opua, turn right to the car ferry (available until 10pm). From car ferry landing, Russell is 10 minutes away. The hotel's entrance is on the waterfront. Alternatively, the old Russell road from 20km after Whangarei on the right is a beautiful scenic recently tarred road (1/2 hr more). Or from Paihia (buses from Auckland direct) by passenger ferry every 20 minutes until 10pm. |
