Centrally located close to city centre and business district. The hotel building has different styles from old world to contemporary, with a contemporary interior. The hotel features 3 restaurants and one bar. The Carlton Room for breakfast and function dining, Cafe D'Oro an off-street coffee shop style restaurant, Ports O Call Restaurant and Grill for more elegant dining. Ports O Call Bar adjacent to the grill. 24 hour room service and reception. The hotel also has a gym/fitness room. A primary attraction of the hotel is the in-house Dunedin Casino, opening daily from 10.00 to 03.00 and 04.00 hours. Sight seeing tours are available through reception to the Albatros colony and Penguin colony at the tip of the Otago Peninsula. The oldest part of the hotel was formerly known as the Grand Hotel and started operations in 1883. Around 1960 to 1965 the hotel was renamed The Southern Cross Hotel and has since been enlarged through adjoining buildings to its present size. |

The hotel is centrally located just 3 blocks south of the railway station, 25 minutes by taxi from Dunedin airport and very close to the Southern Motorway access road. When arriving from the north by car keep following the motorway into town till you reach the railway station and turn right immediately after the railway station into Rattrays street. The hotel is three block up Rattrays Street on your left. |
