Ohakune is accessable by car, bus or train. Transfers to Acacia Lodge Motel are provided free of charge. Just let us know arrival and departure details. By car, we are approximately 3.5hrs - 4hrs north of Wellington and 4.5hrs south of Auckland. Once in Ohakune, you arrive into the main road through the township called Clyde St, carry along this road until you reach Moore St. If coming from National Park it is the 2nd on street on the right by the police station. If coming from Waiouru it is first on the left after the BP Station. We look forward to seeing you. |

Turoa ski-field is 20 minutes away from Ohakune, the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing is 40 minutes by shuttle. We are surronded by walking and hiking tracks, the Old Coach Road walk starts just a 3 minute drive away or if golfing is your thing we have Waimarino Golf course a great country golf course 5 minutes drive from town with glorious views of Mount Ruapehue. There is also plenty of good trout fishing in the area. During the summer it's also the perfect spot to start your Whanganui River adventure, people come from all over the world to experence these trips, they truely are amazing. Nightlife, there are plenty of bars cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance of Acacia Lodge Motel, or if your after a quite night in, just kick back and relax with a glass of wine while taking in the spectacular views of Mount Ruapehu from your unit. |
