The Hotel Kurrajong is a boutique 4 star, heritage listed property, superbly restored. As of 2009 the hotel is under new management. Laureate is a highly regarded international hospitality brand. Guests can expect professional and friendly service. Conveniently located in the Parliamentary precinct, each of Hotel Kurrajong's superbly appointed 4 star rooms feature; king size beds, ensuite (bath with shower)with hair dryer, mini bar, free in-room unlimited broadband internet, free Foxtel 11 channels (including movies, sport, news, history and entertainment), tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board and in-room safe. The hotel provides 24 hour check-in. It is a smoke-free environment. Off-street parking and a 24 hour business centre are complimentary to guests. Isabella's Cafe and Bar is open 7 days a week serving value for money sumptuous meals and snacks breakfast, lunch and dinner. Outdoor balcony and courtyard seating offers a wonderful experience for guests (weather permitting) in addition to indoor seating options. Hotel Kurrajong carries a significant history. One of the first hotels/buildings in Canberra, Ben Chifley (former Australian Prime Minister) was a resident for many years including during World War II when he was treasurer. Guests can make a special request to stay in the Chifley Room. We have recently installed four interpretive history panels in the foyer of the hotel to enhance the experience of history enthusiasts visiting the hotel as an attraction and point of ineterest. One of the early proprietors of the hotel was Mrs Isabella Southwell who is also profiled in the interpretive history panels. Hotel Kurrajong has a strong reputation for conferences, especially in the 10 to 60 delegate range. Hotel Kurrajong has been servicing government and private sector corporate groups for many years. |
