* Rue Daguerre: the most famous street-market in Paris. Incredible atmosphere. Many coffee shops. Calder had its first workshop at No. 22 . Caesar worked just next door. * Catacombs: caves do not exist from early Christians but in the late eighteenth century. New in the visit: Port Mahon gallery is available again after 13 years closed. Open from 10 to 4, except on Mondays. * Montparnasse: from 1900 is the golden age of artist era: poets, writers, painters, political refugees arriving. Hemingway, Foujita, Soutine, Zadkine, Braque, Chagall, Picasso, Rouault and Klee attend the grand and popular cafés: la Coupole, la Rotonde and la Closerie des Lilas are still there! The School of Paris was quite famous . |
