Our restored 19th century buildings have been transformed into sophisticated, self-contained cottages comprising of Deluxe Spa Cottages and Standard Cottages. Strahan Colonial Cottages is situated 150 meters from the Harbour and Strahan's retail area.

The Church and Police Superintendent’s Cottage are deluxe spa cottages - free standing dwellings that have king size beds, wood fires, spa baths, full kitchens and laundry facilities. Henty Cottage and Sir John’s Cottage are standard cottages in the one dwelling separated by a dividing wall with electric heating and kitchenettes.

Strahan Colonial Cottages are decorated with period-style furnishings, including antiques and amenities such as kitchens, bathrooms, TVs, CD player, DVD player and electric blankets on all bedding.

The Church, once a Methodist Chapel, sleeps up to four adults. There is a king size bed on a mezzanine floor and a concealed fold out queen size bed in the lower living area.

The Police Superintendent’s Cottage, originally a courthouse and jail, has two bedrooms with king beds in each and sleeps four adults.

The Henty Cottage sleeps up to two adults and has one bedroom with a queen size bed.

Sir John's Cottage sleep up to four adults comprising of two bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two single beds.

Getting There Strahan Colonial Cottages are located in Reid Street (Corner Harvey Street). Road access is the only form of travel from any of the major Tasmanian cities and will take approximately 4½ hours travel by car from Hobart and Launceston, 3½ Hours from Devonport and 2½ hours from Burnie. The Lyell Highway (B24) and Henty Road (B27) run into Strahan.

Major airports are in Hobart, Launceston, and Wynyard (Burnie).

If your preference is sailing and would like to take your own car, The Spirit of Tasmania lands in Devonport daily.
Parking All cottages have off-street parking included in rates
Things To Do Boat cruises to the famous Gordon River, scenic flights into the Southwest Wilderness, four-wheel drive tours, or bushwalking/horse-riding trails all offer you plenty to do and see while staying at Strahan.

The luxurious world heritage cruises depart daily and among the highlights is disembarking to wander through a virgin rainforest.

If you choose to go surf fishing at the spectacular Ocean Beach, it is worth contemplating that the waves have arrived uninterrupted from South America. At the Ocean road you are further south than Cape Town in South Africa.

If you prefer to ride the rails, the historic, fully-restored Wilderness Railway is worth the thrill of tight curves and spectacular bridges that climb through rugged, steep gorges.

The train locomotives are believed to be the oldest working engines in the world!
