| Getting There |
Springbrook Lyrebird Retreat is about 45 minutes from the Gold Coast and 90 minutes from Brisbane. Coming from the north, there are two possible routes. Leave the Pacific Highway (M1 Motorway) at Exit 79 and follow the signs to Mudgeeraba and Springbrook. Alternatively, leave the Motorway at Exit 69 and follow the signs to Nerang, then take the Nerang-Beaudesert Road and continue towards Numinbah/Murwillumbah for about 21km then, soon after crossing Nerang River at Pine Creek Bridge, turn left at Pine Creek Road (sign to Springbrook). From the south, take Exit 80 to Mudgeeraba and follow the signs to Springbrook. The two routes meet at the northern end of Springbrook Plateau. From there, follow Springbrook Road for about 8km and turn right at Repeater Station Road (sign to Best of All Lookout). Travel 750 metres to the junction with Lyre Bird Ridge Road, turn right and the entrance is about 50 metres along on the left. |

| Things To Do |
Springbrook is a nature lover’s paradise. The National Park is the heart of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area, rated as having outstanding universal values for its unique plants and animals including ancient Antarctic Beeches and the oldest songbirds on earth, Albert’s Lyrebird and the Rufous Scrub-bird. There are logrunners, riflebirds, bowerbirds, fruit pigeons…. Springbrook has Queensland’s most spectacular scenery. Long-drop waterfalls are readily visible from lookouts and reachable by National Park trails. The 25-kilometre network of short and long trails wind through dense ‘cathedral’ rainforests, tall eucalypt forests, and montane heaths that burst into spectacular flower in Spring. Canyon Lookout provides magnificent panoramas across the canyon’s impressive sheer rock walls, over incredible multicoloured rainforest canopies and across to the Pacific Ocean. The trail to Best of All Lookout, often shrouded in cloud, passes through rare Beech forests festooned with epiphytes. These are true cloud forests, rare in Australia and relicts of an ancient cooler, wetter era. On clear nights, the stars shine incredibly brightly in the pure mountain air. |
