Overlooking the Maitia River and the brook stream, the Baywick Inn is an elegantly restored historic 1885 Victorian 2 story villa. Here a warm and genuine Kiwi/Canadian welcome awaits you at this 4 plus Qualmark rated B&B. The inn is located in a quiet garden setting along the river and is only a 5 minute walk to the central city to some of Nelson's best restaurants and cafes as well as many artists studios, shops and other Nelson attractions. The guest rooms are luxuriously appointed with comfortable beds, down duvets, antique furnishings, 2 with modern ensuites, one containing the original 'claw foot' tub and 1 with the a private bathroom just 2 steps away from your room, the original 'water closet'. Two of the rooms have the added bonus of either a sun room or an open private deck. Relax in the sitting room with its cosy fire place and enjoy a complimentary port or sherry, or just chill out with a good cup of tea/coffee and a home made cookie. Janet a chef by profession, makes breakfasts to order, healthy or indulgent, cooked or continental, but always a treat served in the sunny dining room. The menu always includes fresh fruit salad, toasted maple pecan muesli and a special cooked breakfast of the day, from speciality omelettes, baked blueberry French toast to a variety of other treats. It is only a short drive to visit local wineries and for day trips to Abel Tasman National Park. Private off street parking is provided. The Baywick Inn is also home to Mombozzie the wire haired fox terrier who only greets guests at their request. We provide a non smoking environment. |

From Picton or Christchurch, take SH6 to Nelson. Exit onto Trafalgar Street. One block from the Cathedral steps is Hardy Street, turn left onto Hardy Street and continue to the river. Turn right onto Domett Street and we are the big yellow house on your right, No 51 Domett Street. |
