The Jade Garden Hotel was built in the 1930’s. In 1946, the Chinese Communist Party signed the Cease-Fire Agreement with the Guomindang. To carry out the Cease-Fire Agreement, the Guomindang, the Communist Party and the United States set up a joint Cease-Fire Committee in Beijing. The Jade Garden Hotel was chosen as the headquarters of General Ye Jianying, a hero of the Long March, and the Communist Cease-Fire Delegation—just some of the history of this building and its surroundings. The Jade Garden Hotel is situated at the center of Beijing. From the hotel’s entrance, you can see the east gate of the Forbidden City and the only walking street, Wangfujing Street, at the heart of Beijing’s shopping and business center, just five minutes away. From rooms on the south side of the hotel, you can see Tian’anmen Square and the traditional Beijing family house compounds (hutongs) surrounding the hotel. Tian’anmen Square and many impressive official government buildings, as well as the Ming imperial city wall, are within sight of the windows of guest rooms on the east side of the hotel, a 15 minute walk away. The Jade Garden Hotel has received a government rating of four stars, and in 1995 was designated a historical landmark. In addition to standard rooms, the hotel also has Junior Suites, Business Suites and Executive Suites, for a total of 122 guest rooms. The guest rooms are furnished with comfortable Chinese furniture, modern or traditional. All the guest rooms are equipped with modern facilities and internet service. The hotel features restaurants and bars, serving Chinese and Western cuisine.
