Located a pleasant 1 hours drive north of Sydney, Martinsville lies in the heart of the stunning Watagan Mountain Range. Nestled in its foothills, Watagan Forest Retreat with its panoramic rural views and luxury accommodation is the perfect place to relax and unwind! The Retreat is a convenient base to explore the many attractions of the local area. Close to a magnificent 18-hole golf course, the Retreat is just 30 minutes drive to the numerous wineries and restaurants of the Hunter Valley. Not far in the opposite direction, you can take a cruise, swim or fish beautiful Lake Macquarie. Right on our doorstep we have the magnificent Watagan Mountains with some of the best walking tracks Australia-wide. Hike, ride or peacefully wander one of these magnificent trails. Locally, there is a myriad of arts and craft stores including the renowned “Elephant shop”. The area boasts a number of talented artists offering an array of unique products. Another option is Morisset Mega Markets (open Sat & Sun) – shop till you drop! The local stables will take riders on bush trails suited to either beginner or experienced rider. At the retreat, refresh yourself with a swim and then laze in the sun; grab a book and head for the hammock; or spoil yourself with a massage (professional masseuse on call). In the evening sit on the verandah enjoying your complimentary bottle of champagne while taking in the awesome nightsky display. The Martinsville valley is a scenic rural wonderland. Take a picnic and bicycle along winding country tracks skirted by the magnificent mountains taking in the fresh mountain air. Experience fine hospitality, spectacular scenery and a wide range of activities. Do as little or as much as you desire! ROOMS: This property sleeps 2 adults and 2 children with quality furnishings throughout. The configuration is a ultra-comfort queen bedroom with ensuite, and a pullout sofa in the lounge room. A portacot is also available should this be required for infants. Bedding is provided including pillows and a queen-size doona. Linen includes pillow cases, sheets, doona cover, towels, tea towels, bathmats and hand towels. By Car: Watagan Forest Retreat is a one hour drive north of Sydney (from Wahroonga). Take the F3 and exit at the Morisset interchange. At the top of the exit ramp turn left. Take the first right (Deaves Rd.) and then left at the T-intersection. Take the first left (Martinsville Rd) and continue for 5 kms. Turn left onto Wilkinson Road and Watagan Forest Retreat is the 1st on the left. By Rail: Disembark at Morisset Station and call for free pick-up. By Air: Closest airport is Newcastle (Williamtown). Transfers can be provided at $22p/p one-way. |
