Ocean View Bed and Breakfast is an attractive two-storey colonial-style house with modern décor and comfortable rooms. It is nestled in a tranquil hillside bush setting with stunning panoramic views over the sparkling waters of the Firth of Thames. The town centre is only a ten minute stroll. Here you will find a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. A ten minute walk will also take you to the coast with its board walk and bird hide, a fascinating place to while away an hour. The Firth attracts a wide variety of shore birds, including heron, oyster catchers, godwits and stilts. We have flexible accommodation. On the first floor of the house there are two queen rooms, with private bathroom. On the ground floor is a fully self-contained, well-equipped and air-conditioned apartment, with a queen room, a twin room, bathroom, full kitchen, dining and sitting areas including TV, DVD and CD players and its own private entrance and outdoor sitting and dining area. Children are very welcome. The apartment would be particularly suitable accommodation for families. We can provide a cot for infants or a foldaway bed for older children in any of our rooms for a small extra charge. We are a smoke-free home. A particularly attractive aspect of the property is our peaceful, beautifully landscaped garden, with many interesting areas to relax in. The garden features a pond, a blend of native and non-native plantings, a spa pool and a large deck area with guest barbecue facilities. The spa pool has been positioned to take full advantage of the sea views – a great place from which to enjoy the sunset over the Firth at the end of a long day's sightseeing. The top of the garden merges into the Coromandel State Forest with no visible distinction between the two. You will wake to a chorus of bird song from the large number of native birds attracted into the bush and garden. Residents include tui, bell birds, fan tails, silvereye, New Zealand wood pigeons, kingfishers and morepork (New Zealand's very own owl). |
