Hotel Antille is located in Dolo, the centre of RIVIERA DEL BRENTA and using the Interstate SS11 is possible to reach Venice (antique capital of the Serenissima) in 15 minutes and Padua (hystorical university town) in 20 minutes. Hotel Antille is the ideal departing base for numerous excursions that this rich territory of Venice offers. You can reach Venice by bus in only 20 minutes. By train: From the railway station of Venezia-Mestre or Padova, catch a local train (Regionale) to the railway station of Dolo-Mirano. We'll be happy to organize for you a taxi service to the "Hotel Antille", situated at 1 km from the station. When you’ll arrive call us. Trains timetable is available on the web-site: trenitalia.it from Venice airport "Marco Polo": if you rent a car at the airport follow the green indications A4 to Milano , take the highway A4 to Milano and go out at the exit Dolo-Mirano. At the round turn right on the 2nd exit following indication to Dolo. After about 500 metres, at the first traffic light turn on the left. After the bridge at 200 metres there a second traffic light, straight down 150 metres and you’ll find via monte verena on the left and see Hotel Antille. If you travel using the pubblic means of transportation catch the "ATVO EXPRESS" bus to Mestre leaving every half an hour or the ACTV city bus n° 15 and get off at "Piazza XXVII Ottobre". From here catch the ACTV bus n° 53E Venezia-Padova and get off in Dolo centre. After you’ll phone us for a transfert of the last 700 metres By bus: ACTV buses leaving every 15-30 minutes from Venice (piazzale Roma), from Mestre (P.zza XXVII Ottobre), from Padua (bus station P.le Boschetti) and get off in Dolo centre. After you’ll phone us for a transfert of the last 700 metres. By car: If you're coming from Milano, Roma, Bologna ( A4, A13), highway A4 exit Dolo-Mirano. At the round turn right on the 2nd exit following indication to Dolo. After about 500 metres, at the first traffic light turn on the left. | Things To Do |
The Brenta Riviera is set on the banks of the river that flows from Padua to the Venice Lagoon. Populated as early as the 5th Century A.D., its importance grew in 1400 when Venice extended its dominion to all of the Veneto interland. The Venetian Patricians bought large estates on the Brenta Riverside and fascinated by the beauty of its landscapes it was turned into a holiday location. From 1500 to 1700 they built imposing villas such as the Foscari Villa in Malcontenta, the Valmarana and Widmann Villas in Mira and the Pisani Villa in Strà, the Real Ducal Palace on the mainland, where you can find its well-known maze of renaissance style hedges. As the relationship between Padua and Venice intensified in the 1400’s , boats became the main mean of transportation used at that time. A regular boat service was set up along the Brenta Riviera in 1700. Since the so called Padua Boat was considered slow and of low-quality, a new barge was introduced called the “Burchiello“ mean of transportation used by the best companies that later became customary.
