Amamoor Homestead B&B and Country Cottages nestle on 32 acres in the glorious Mary Valley, an easy 1½ hour drive north of Brisbane. Majestically poised high atop a hill, the traditional Homestead B&B and stylish Country Cottages offer the ultimate in rural relaxation and rustic charm. Located mid-way between the village of Amamoor and township of Kandanga, we are just 40 minutes north of Noosa and 20 minutes from the historic goldmining town of Gympie in the Cooloola Shire. Research indicates that these two place names are derived from the local Kabi language and mean "resting place" and "bend in the river". The Homestead and Cottages are a "graceful resting place on the bend in the river", where the peace and tranquillity are inspired by the gentle breezes, azure blue skies and birdsong. The Homestead B&B accommodation offers two luxury queen size rooms, each featuring ensuite, r/c air-conditioning, TV and fridge. Each room has its own private veranda, where your four course cooked breakfast is served, or if you prefer, we can serve you in the Homestead dining room. There is a separate entrance to each room, and both offer glorious views over the valley and surrounding mountains. There is a guest theatre room with DVD and CD players and a comprehensive selection of DVDs and CDs for your enjoyment. Pamper yourself at the end of the day in our guest spa room, featuring double spa bath, complimentary lotions, bubbles and body oils and luxuriously fluffy bath robes. Amamoor Homestead Cottages, stylish country accommodation in the heart of the Mary Valley, offer privacy, a wide veranda and 360 degree views across the valley and surrounding mountains. Be seduced by the beauty and tranquillity that envelop you. Light a fire cauldron (the wood is already chopped for you!) and enjoy a cool drink while you toast marshmallows under a starlit sky. You are welcome to self-cater, either in the fully equipped kitchen or the barbecue on your veranda. We can supply a self-catering barbecue hamper or alternatively, meals can be provided by prior arrangement. Breakfast hampers are available on request, at a cost of $25 for two people. A comprehensive range of tea and coffee is supplied, including plunger and teapot varieties. We are pet-friendly accommodation, but do request that your pet is well-behaved. |

| Getting There |
Travelling north on the M1 (Bruce Highway) from Brisbane, pass Ettamogah Pub (a leaning timber structure on your left just past the Caloundra turn-off); pass the Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Eumundi/Kenilworth turn-offs. Continue north past the Cooroy turn-off, then the Imbil/Lake Borumba turn-off. Look for the "Sexie Coffie" billboard on your right. The next left turn-off is the Traveston Crossing Road, clearly signed indicating Amamoor, Kandanga, and Amamoor State Forest. Follow the Traveston Crossing Road to a bridge over the Traveston Creek, where the road becomes Meddleton Road. Follow Meddleton Road until you reach a cross-road. Go straight ahead into Blackgate Road and follow Blackgate to a Y Junction. Take the left swing of the Y Junction into Kandanga/Amamoor Road. Amamoor Homestead B&B and Country Cottages is approximately 3 km along, the second Bed and Breakfast on Kandanga/Amamoor Road. |

During the day, visit Tin Can Bay and watch the dolphins at play or take a Dolphin Ferry Cruise, stop off at Rainbow Beach enroute and see the coloured sands, take a horseback ride along the beach or throw in a fishing line and relax! In the historic goldmining town of Gympie, visit the Gold Mining Museum and feed the ducks at the adjacent Lake Alford parklands. Wander through the Woodworking Museum or ride the restored steam train, Mary Valley Rattler, from Gympie to Imbil, the largest town in the Valley. There are delightful picnic grounds at Lake Borumba. Picnic at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park, the rainforest area of Cedar Grove or Amama Park, where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the platypus at play. Stroll along bushwalking tracks with sub-tropical vegetation and waterfalls. Take a leisurely drive along the Mary Valley Scenic Way and notice the diverse grazing and agricultural activities that abound, including pineapples, macadamias, mangoes, citrus, avocados and small crops. For the energetic bushwalker, climb the hill behind the Homestead for glorious panoramic views of the Valley and rainforest gullies. For the not-so-energetic, your hosts will be happy to 4WD you to the top to enjoy the vista. For the four wheel drive enthusiasts there are forest drives, and golf, horseback riding and canoeing are available. The Homestead is a short scenic drive from the popular tourist destinations of Kenilworth, Montville/Maleny, Noosa and Eumundi. Visit the local winery or cheese factory at Kenilworth and relish the local wines, cheeses and yoghurt. |
