Our historically motivated yet modern (7 year old) Motel is in the heart of the historical Rutherglen business precinct. Adjoining the Motel (on the front of the property), is our circa. 1870's Hotel, which has recently been renovated "back to it's original glory" and offers access to fine dining in the Bistro along with a comfortable, friendly atmosphere to sample our local wines, relax in, meet the locals or enjoy the coldest beer in town. Our modern & comfortable 10 room Motel, includes 2 Spa, 2 Family, & 6 Standard rooms one of which is Disable equipped. The Motel itself is situated on the rear of the property, opposite APEX Park & Lake King, accessable via the very quiet Murray Street, so guests will not be disturbed by the heavy vehicle traffic that uses the Main St/Murray Valley Hwy as the main route along the Murray River. Motel guests can also enjoy Bistro discounts, Austar (24 channels), minibar, room service, FREE wireless Internet, FREE guest laundry, FREE movie hire and new & very quiet reverse cycle split system air conditioning. Our other facilities include TAB, onsite ATM, Alfresco Deck overlooking the Beer Garden, function room upstairs that walks out onto the balcony that overlooks the whole of Main Street, and on days of clear visibility across to the snow fields of Victoria's High Country. Our guests, who offer comment in our "Guests Book", continuously speak of the spaciousness & comfort of our rooms, the high standards we maintain with respect to cleanliness, the quality of our food and the service & friendliness of all of our staff. Rutherglen itself is situated close to the Murray River, within 15km of the neignbouring townships of Corowa, Wahgunyah, Chiltern, Springhurst and Howlong. We are just under 3hrs from Melbourne (up the Hume Highway) and a short half hour drive to each of historic Beechworth, Yackandandah, Milawa (home of Brown Brothers), Yarrawonga, Wangaratta and Albury Wodonga. Rutherglen is the agricultural and viticultural centre of Australia's oldest wine growing region situated in North-East Victoria, located near the banks of the mighty Murray River. This old gold rush township established in the 1850's has worked to preserve it's features to allow travellers an opportunity to see a town with an old feel, but still having modern conveniences of a tourist destination. The Rutherglen wine region is the premier fortified wine producing area in Australia, with winemaker's passing on their knowledge through up to five generations. The growth of the area has seen Rutherglen become the home of many boutique wineries. |
