Set on 18 acres of bush and heathland the property has extensive Wilderness,Harbour and Mountain views. No traffic,no street noise, just 3minutes drive from the cruise boats and town center,and 8 minutes from the Wilderness railway station at Regatta Point. Gas and wood fired BBQ have been developed at scenic points around the Lodge grounds and 50 to 100 meter walks established to the jetties and boats in Mill Bay. | Getting There |
From Hobart turn right at Harvey Street go straight ahead through roundabout and continue for approx 1km. Turn in to property at sign on left and proceed to reception at the main building, Strahan Wilderness Lodge. From the North, turn right at the roundabout (Harvey St. becomes Ocean Beach Rd). Proceed to the property sign on the left (approx 1 km). Come to reception at the main building, Strahan Wilderness Lodge. |

| Things To Do |
Gordon River and harbour cruises, visiting Hells Gates, fish farms and Sarah Island. (Macquarie Harbour is the second biggest harbour in Australia). See rain forested gorges on the King River by jet boat. Fly over the spectacular and rugged South West coastline, mountains and wilderness by helicopter or seaplane, landing on the Gordon River or the remote and inaccessible Port Davey. Have an adventure with a guided 4 wheel motorbike tour on the Henty sand dunes with magnificent views of the Southern Ocean and the coast line of the wild West Coast, or hire sand boards in Strahan to have fun on the dunes, or just walk and enjoy their beauty. They are 10 mins from Strahan on the Strahan/Zeehan Highway. Travel from Strahan to Queenstown on the West Coast Wilderness Railway, or walk to Hogarth Falls from Peoples Park in Strahan. The Play 'The Ship That Never Was' is on daily at 5.30 at the Strahan Amphitheatre telling a true story of the Great Escape from Sarah Island. View mutton birds flying in at dusk each night to feed their young in the rookeries at Ocean Beach. You can see the sunset while enjoying a crayfish dinner on a yacht on Macquarie Harbour. See the historic sawmill still operating on the waterfront. The old cemetery dates back to the 1890's and still has some of the original Huon pine headboards. |
