People say that Roman Consul Cicerone build his mansion exactly here, where there is now the villa that was constructed around 1700. Marco Mario, a roman friend of his that lived in Pompeii, described how beautiful and magnificent it was. Without doubt the position was and is superb!

On the ruins of this Roman mansion, at the end of the 17th century a noble family of Vico, named “de le Castelle” built their villa as it is known to us today. At the end of the 19th century it was bought by the Cosenza family and transformed in the Hotel Seiano. Among the first in the Sorrento Peninsula, when the “Grand Tour” made the Sorrento Coast known to the entire world. Well known personalities have frequented the hotel till the seventies of the last century, among whom Dino Riso, Sophia Loren, Vittorio De Sica; some scenes of their film “Pane, Amore e …” where taken on the hotel grounds.

A carefully designed refurbishment gives birth after eight years of the Grand Hotel Angiolieri. A five star hotel with decided architectural lines, where classic materials combine with those more modern.
