Getting There Mid-way between Hobart and Launceston, Swansea is on the east coast of Tasmania.
The east coast road system is good and public transport is available although extremely limited.
When organising your travel please remember that in Tasmania it is easier to work out times at 70km per hour. This allows for all the bends in the road and there are quite a few of those!

Things To Do The historic walk through town covers nearly 30 building. Included in the walk is the Glamorgan Community Centre built in 1860 which now houses a museum of local history
The Bark Mill - the only restored working Wattle Bark Mill in Australia. This has recently been given a major upgrade and is worth spending a few hours browsing through. Your entry fee is for a 24hr period, so if you run out of time you can return at your leisure to complete your visit.
If you’re in town on a Tuesday or Friday then the Historical Society is also a great place to wander through.
If you need a retail therapy moment then look no further than the Bear Cottage Crafts. Vivianne has a teddy to suit everyone. Plus a fantastic range of jewellery, china, scarves, wraps and so many other things. It may be the place where you need to leave the other half with a coffee and paper and the promise you won’t be too long!
Further along the road is Dos Vagabundos, a gem of a find for those looking for something totally different. John and Donnie have a fantastic collection of South American collectables. Definitely not what you thought to find in Tasmania but we doubt you’ll walk away without some purchase large or small.
Gallery 19 is also not totally Tasmanian. Suzanne has an extensive range of Asian and Oriental influenced goodies. There are too many to describe but well worth a meander through.
Not to be missed by those with a sweet tooth, just out of town (heading south) is Kate's Berry Farm. Kate has a well established reputation for jams, ice-cream, wine and country produce. Her bubbly enhancer is great for the champagne drinker in the family. And there is a certain ‘man jam’ lurking on one of the shelves.

Looking for a great meal then look no further than The Banc or Ebb. Both have menus to tempt anybodys taste buds. The dessert sampler at The Banc is mouthwatering.

The fantastic Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park are an approximate 45-55 minute trip away. As you wend your way to Freycinet you will travel past five wineries. We doubt you will just pass them bye as the temptation to sample one or two will be too great. The selection of vineyards is; Craigie Knowe, Spring Vale, Bishops Rock, Combend and Freycinet. Milton is one to look out for this coming summer.

To include also on your things to do would be, Freycinet Charters, Maria Island, Bicheno Penguin Tour and many more.
